"In fact, there’s reason to believe that they could counterproductively hurt employment. That’s because when you take away people’s health insurance, their otherwise manageable health conditions turn into unmanageable work barriers."

We used to have a federal survey that measured hunger in America, but the Trump administration stopped conducting the survey right after the bill that cut food assistance was passed.

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

We are seeing a hunger disaster unrolling before our eyes. Since Republicans passed the Big Beautiful Bill, 2 million kids have lost food assistance. These are by far the deepest SNAP cuts in history, and each month, we find out it’s even worse than we thought. The worst is yet to come.

The Justice Department’s saga in California isn’t over. But we need to remember that this is a distraction and is meant to undermine confidence in our elections. FWAD is here to debunk some of the disinformation spreading about our election security.

Musk's DOGE boys took a 'sledgehammer' to the federal govt & services people relied on. Now they're getting rich off the pain they caused. DOGE was never about efficiency, it was about breaking the govt & selling it off to Trump's billionaire buddies & allies. Endless grift.

washingtonpost.comThey came to Washington to dismantle government. Now, they’re profiting from it.DOGE alumni have leveraged their government experience, raising at least half a billion dollars for firms spanning cyberwarfare, AI and data centers, a Post analysis found.

Biden admin: directed the vast majority of IRA spending to GOP states. That's where much of the pain was, so that's where federal support was most needed, despite politics or childish slogans Trump: if they didn't vote for me, you can bomb them, idgaf These things are not the same

Lynn Stahl@msbtterswrth.altgov.info

A sitting US president calling for an adversary we're currently AT WAR WITH to bomb two US cities is treason. Open and shut, text book treason. We have less than thirty days to lock in, and start fixing this mess by voting these fuckasses out of office.

Makes feel like a chump putting all that energy into making sure my effort was being spent for the benefit of everyone, regardless of where they lived, who they voted for, or how repellant I found their personal politics to be. That was my job, that was my oath, and it was, is the right thing to do

“Build with not for” is a civic tech mantra that emphasized that the work was about partnering with agencies who had deep subject matter expertise. USDS and 18F were able to eventually earn trust that they weren’t techbro know-it-alls coming to muscle out career employees.

People-centered, not tech centered: focus on the outcomes people experience not which toys you want to play with Government is not a business: companies pick and choose profitable customers, governments have an obligation to serve everyone, particularly when it seems inefficient to do so

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

New, from me: Once memory-holed, DOGE is now the subject of revisionism. To better understand why DOGE failed, I talked to people in the civic tech movement that DOGE displaced, who continue to offer the alternative model for how to modernize govt. 🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/doge-vs-ci...

If you think this doesn't affect you, you are wrong. If Musk thinks you might vote against his interests, then Grok will label you ineligible to vote and you will be purged. The first bombshell in the war to steal the midterms just landed in *your* lap. What'cha going to do about it?

Democracy Docket@democracydocket.com

Jackson: "The harm caused by burdening or disenfranchising even a few lawful voters outweighs the nonexistent harm that the Government experiences when it is prevented from taking an action that it likely lacks the authority to take."

The real fraud, waste, and abuse is Citizens United. The people Trump pushed out of the government weren't wasting money, they were getting in the way of the grift. Remember as you read this: the money being talked about is your money, money being stolen by corporations as "smart business"

William Turton@williamturton.bsky.social

In 2024 the former CEO of a defense contractor made a stunning confession to two FBI agents. He alleged that was the ringleader of a massive pay-to-play operation, bribing senators with campaign contributions in exchange for govt contracts. www.propublica.org/article/fbi-...

DOGE lives on in spirit if not in name. The damage continues. Your government continues to be stolen from you

Lynn Stahl@msbtterswrth.altgov.info

Thousands of government sites run on USWDS. It's what makes them 508 compliant, trustworthy and easy to update. We're scrambling to make backups in case of catastrophe, but this will be a hugely time-consuming and costly mistake if they intend to rip it out and replace it with vibe coded trash.

Senator Chris Van Hollen@vanhollen.senate.gov

From day 1 we said the Dobbs decision was never about states' rights, it was about limiting women's access to care.   To put an end to these relentless Republican attacks, we must codify reproductive freedoms in law & make clear that a woman's right to choose is her decision.
