Peek is getting closer to "web workbench", and daily-use keeps compounding that. It's now my daily default: - web user agent - notes editor - todo list - read-it-later-er

about half the Web DX group there ... and BEN KELLY, throwback to Firefox OS and working on the $20 phone project

i can only read @leaflet.pub posts during the day because their bright whiteness jumpscares me at night, so i've learned not to click (thanks embeds!) is that a setting people aren't using, or lack of support for system color scheme?

congrats @ankeshbharti.com and the Tiles team!!

We’re proud to be an anchor project in the @mozilla.org Foundation Human-Scale Al Incubator. We’ll be doing this alongside a cohort of builders making purpose-built tech sized to the problems it’s meant to solve. Seven more spots are open now with up to $500k over two years in non-dilutive funding.

Firefox user for >20 years, TIL about about:keyboard wonder how long that's been there

Keith Cirkel@keithamus.social

Apropos of nothing, if you're considering switching from a recently deprecated browser and want to try Firefox, I just landed `Copy Tab URL` in nightly - it's not bound by default but a quick visit to `about:keyboard` will let you set it, and also take a glance at the other neat shortcuts we have.

nice to see more options for mapping and places! curious how they're doing private saves... already broke my map app UX rules, but there's still time: mu.social/profile/burr...

Placita@placita.app

Placita is open! Anyone with an Atmosphere account can sign in and save places. Import a list, add a tag and a note, and choose which places are public. Your places are records in your own account, not in our database. Early alpha. Tell us what breaks. placita.app

at a brewery in Chiang Mai, a friend cracked two cans of some of the last beers brewed by Alan Sprints, founder of Hair of the Dog, PDX craft beer OG. RIP Alan, we heartily enjoyed this yes-all-of-the-hops brew. Fred, whoever you are, thank you too.

in Firefox nightly, suspended tabs now turn grayscale. the user experience is... funereal. makes the browser feel like a graveyard, tombstones littering the place after a while. they should just implement @devdevcharlie.com's extension instead:

Charlie Gerard@devdevcharlie.com

I built a fun little Chrome extension that lets plants invade your abandoned tabs the longer you leave them unread. To access them again, you have to slash through the vines 🪚🌿

real talk, thanks for poking at this @ngerakines.me

Nick Gerakines@ngerakines.me

I've been working on password reset and account recovery in atproto-pds and atproto-entryway, and I've landed on a feature I want to discuss broadly, get feedback on, and propose to the community to allow rotation keys to be used to reset passwords. #atdev #atproto

went to a fundraiser by ppl from Dawei in southern Myanmar, which lost over 50 villages recently to flooding. no intl orgs are collecting funds because it's also a conflict zone. and the junta isn't letting aid orgs in, and turned off the internet 😐 (i can route donations, dm or signal)

Doi Langka Noi was steep up and steep down. wild to go from steamy jungle into cool air and pine trees. a real always-be-leech-checking hike.

suffering from this dev papercut for soooo long

Finally Firefox lets redeclare variables in the console, it was one of my biggest pain points when debugging with it. Thanks @lochipi.bsky.social for implementing this!

OH re Firefox adding widgets to the new tab page without asking: "It's like somebody put something on your desk! Without asking!" good example of how the *feeling* of a violation of agency is real, immediate and unmistakeable.

experimenting with how to communicate energy usage for jobs on the folknet. this is from an 8hr job by a bunch of folknet-only agents implementing CSS aspect-ratio:

that bowl in the corner is an innovation i hadn't seen before: super thin crispy wontons, topped with tom yum ground pork and a splash of broth

send hugvibes to thousands of folks with flooded homes today in Bangkok took all day and wading through flood waters but i managed to get out and to the airport... where thousands are getting off planes to find a 6hr taxi wait, or take a train to a flooded station, so are just camping here.
