Austria is showing the world what action looks like.
It took leaders just two weeks after a horrific school shooting to make steps to prevent tragedies and save lives.
How many more school shootings will it take for America to change our deadly status quo?
In the new documentary “In Guns We Trust," two Australians travel the U.S. to explore diverse perspectives on guns, safety, and freedom.
Dont miss the powerful film, which features Brady Board Chair and @thisisourlane.org founder @josephsakran.bsky.social.
Eight years ago, 11 Jewish worshippers were killed in a shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. We remember the victims, stand with survivors and their families, and reaffirm our commitment to disarming hate and preventing gun violence.
Over the weekend, at least 12 people were injured, including six kids and teens, in a shooting near Florida A&M University after the HBCU's homecoming football game. Our communities deserve to gather, celebrate, and live without fear of gun violence.

Three years later, we remember the 18 people killed and 13 injured in the Lewiston, Maine, shooting. We stand with survivors, families, and a grieving community.
Remembrance must fuel action: We must do everything in our power to prevent future tragedies and free America from gun violence.
Last night NY @GovKathyHochul signed Francesco's Law - to increase secure storage of firearms and prevent tragedies like firearm suicide.
This was years in the making and we are so grateful to all of those — including Francesco's mom — who got us across the finish line.
A powerful evening for a future free from gun violence. 🧡
Brady’s 5th annual Take Action to End Gun Violence event, hosted in partnership with Golden State Warriors Coach Steve Kerr, brought together advocates and changemakers for an important conversation about ending gun violence in America.
Nine years after losing his father to gun violence, Brady board member and Ohio chapter leader @erickbellomy.bsky.social is asking Ohio’s leaders a question they can no longer afford to avoid: What will you do to save lives?

76% of school shooters get their gun from the home.
Parents, and all adults, can keep our homes, schools, and communities safe by always storing all firearms locked, unloaded, and away from ammo.

An active shooting at an Oregon elementary school has left multiple people injured, including children.
As we wait to learn more, let's remember what we already know: school shootings are not inevitable; they are not normal; and they are not acceptable. https://cnn.it/4yhoJCZ
We are honored to receive the City of Chicago’s Challenging Cultural Norms Award.
Changing the narrative around gun violence means challenging the gun industry’s influence, exposing its role in the crisis, and building a culture that prioritizes safety and accountability.
Families in Erie #PA would usually be reminiscing about summer days on the lake and talking about the beginning of hockey season. Instead, they are facing the aftermath of a horrific mass shooting.
No community should have its routine moments, its safety, or its future stolen by gun violence.
This is absolutely heart wrenching. 9 people shot and killed, including 2 children, in Erie #PA.
As we await more information, please hold the families of the victims and the Erie community in your heart.
May our leaders’ hearts be broken enough to act.
🚨 JUST IN: The ATF is allowing silencers, short-barreled rifles, and “sawed-off” shotguns to be bought or made without a background check nationwide, following a Texas judge’s ruling. The agency’s sweeping move dismantles longstanding safeguards and puts lives at risk.
A 5-year old should never have to watch anyone, let alone federal agents, open fire on the person sitting next to them.
My heart breaks just thinking about the terror this child felt.
We need answers.
In April, the Trump administration proposed 34 ATF rule changes to roll back gun violence protections. Brady advocates were among those who weighed in on measures open for public comment. More than 38K comments were submitted, and @thetrace.org found a divide between gun businesses and customers.
It's the last day the DOJ can appeal a court ruling that overturned century-old regulations on silencers, short-barreled rifles, and “sawed-off” shotguns. But the agency wasted no time, having announced Thursday that it wouldn't appeal the deregulation of these uniquely dangerous weapons.
A recipe for increased gun violence.
Until a few weeks ago, 18-year-olds could only legally purchase a long gun from a licensed dealer. Now, thanks to the DOJ, they can legally buy handguns—the most trafficked firearms—while teens are simultaneously being recruited into gun trafficking networks.
This should shock and alarm us all.
American high schoolers are being recruited into gun trafficking networks that arm Mexican cartels.
When lethal weapons are this easy to divert into the illegal market, the consequences don’t stop at our border. They fuel violence on both sides of it.
Women deserve to be safe. But we should be highly skeptical of an industry that sees our fear as an opportunity for massive profit, and markets firearms as a risk-free solution.
Bringing a gun into the home introduces a new set of risks. Read my latest post on Locked & Unloaded.
Silencers
Sawed-off shotguns
Short-barreled rifles
Weapons we’ve regulated for nearly a century with good reason.
Now, Trump’s DOJ is choosing not to defend these protections, and instead, they are putting these weapons into the hands of criminals.
The only people who want this: the gun lobby.
Incredibly alarming that the DOJ has officially said it will not appeal the ruling that struck down the nearly 100-year-old requirements for silencers, short-barreled rifles, and “sawed-off” shotguns.
These uniquely lethal devices can eviscerate public safety in our communities.
9 years ago, Geena Springmann went to a music festival with her sister and friends. What started as a fun night turned into a nightmare when 1,000 rounds were fired into the crowd.
Now she has one plea: protect our communities from assault weapons.
Today marks the 9th anniversary of the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. when a gunman with an AR-15 killed 60 people and wounded more than 400 others in Las Vegas, NV.
SCOTUS will soon hear arguments challenging assault-weapon bans. But let's be clear—these laws save lives.
For 21 years, the gun industry has enjoyed special protections that make it more difficult for families devastated by gun violence to have their day in court.
In my latest post, I explain why it’s long past time to repeal a law known as PLCAA, and what Brady’s victories in court prove is possible.
Pres. Trump told the DOJ NOT to appeal the federal court ruling that makes it easier to obtain short-barreled firearms & silencers.
We need to get loud — time is running out! Demand AG Todd Blanche appeal this deadly ruling BEFORE the Oct 5 deadline!
On Friday, the Department of Justice announced that it considers a federal ban on handgun sales to adults under 21 to be unconstitutional.
This provision has protected public safety for generations - this decision will simply make us all less safe.

Our Show Gun Safety campaign has trained and met with thousands of screenwriters, producers, and studio executives about how to responsibly depict firearms in film and television.
With guns the #1 cause of death for kids, even small choices on screen — like showing a gun safe — can save lives.
I’m proud that our @bradyunited.org Show Gun Safety initiative worked with the team behind Peacock’s The Good Daughter to portray gun violence and its lasting trauma with care.
I can’t wait to watch. The show premieres on November 12.
Today is National Physician Suicide Awareness Day.
Nearly half of physician suicide deaths involve a firearm. Healthcare professionals can help save lives by talking with patients and one another about secure firearm storage.

There’s plenty of evidence that guns in the home make women less safe. Yet extremists are attempting to exploit women’s fear to overturn #MA gun laws.
More guns and more fear aren’t a plan to keep women safe. They’re a complete failure and the only people who benefit are gun industry executives.
Secure storage can give an individual in crisis the gift of time. Time for another person to intervene, time for the moment to pass.
The responsibility to store firearms safely doesn’t end with National Suicide Prevention Month. Make it an everyday practice. Learn more @endfamilyfire.org
Children are now at least 20x more likely to die by firearm suicide at home than in a school shooting.
Guns are the second most prevalent suicide method for kids ages 5 to 11.
Firearm suicide is rising in America, & we can prevent it with secure storage. Read about steps you can take in my post.
On Dec. 2, SCOTUS will hear arguments in the challenge against local and state regulations of assault weapons.
There is overwhelming evidence to support these laws' constitutionality and life-saving impact. No matter what, we won't stop fighting to keep our communities safe!
Grateful to @padilla.senate.gov, @welch.senate.gov and all those who signed this letter demanding the Dept. of Justice defend the National Firearms Act!
This law regulates uniquely lethal weapons. We must urge the DOJ to protect sensible regulations that keep Americans safe! https://bit.ly/46bfLvE
As our chair @josephsakran.bsky.social shared in the Times, Baltimore’s historic drop in gun violence didn’t happen by accident.
When ghost guns flooded the streets of Baltimore, the city fought back. Brady helped take the gun industry to court. We won.
Gun violence is not inevitable.
AI gun detection systems in schools are an expensive and dangerous distraction from addressing the root causes of gun violence in this country.
We must address America’s obsession with unfettered access to guns.

Though gun homicides continue to fall, firearm suicides reached an all-time high in 2025.
Practicing secure firearm storage is one of the most effective ways to prevent firearm suicide.

Today, the gun lobby's friends in Congress hosted a roundtable to hear from groups like the NSSF on why they should NOT appeal a recent court decision to deregulate silencers & other weapons under the National Firearms Act.
Instead, they want Congress to deregulate them completely!
And when they are used in crime, the consequences are dire: 12 people were killed by a gunman using a silencer in Virginia Beach, and most people in the building had no idea a shooting was even taking place.
Sign our petition calling on the Dept. of Justice to appeal this deadly ruling!
Thanks to advocates, partners, and lawmakers, Brady helped pass two life-saving bills in California that will ensure gun purchasers are trained on gun laws & firearm safety, and that will provide data on gun dealers who fuel illegal gun trafficking.

This is not the usual satire published by McSweeney’s.
The horrors of Trump’s rollbacks of lifesaving gun regulations do indeed take us back 100 years.
His actions will cost human lives, and he doesn’t seem to care.
On August 31, 2019 — seven years ago today — a shooter killed seven people and injured more than 20 others in Midland and Odessa, TX, using an AR-style weapon.
We must take action to keep these weapons designed for war off our streets and protect our communities.
On this day 11 years ago, Virginia journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward, were shot and killed while reporting on air. Their lives, their work, and their stories deserve to be remembered.

Of course they did.
It’s almost like this administration fears it might lose another election…
And ironic when the President has been voting by mail.
We must have fair and free elections.
Americans see the grift: 69% believe Trump’s private business interests influence his decisions as president.
Now his administration wants to make it easier to ship guns through the mail, while his son stands to profit from his shares in GrabAGun, an online gun retailer.
Money first, human lives…?
A federal court has struck down the federal rule that ensures “ghost guns” are regulated as traditional firearms.
This will surely result in untraceable and unregulated firearms being unleashed back into our communities, exacerbating violent crime.

Violent crime in Pennsylvania is down 16%, and homicides are down nearly 40%. But as Lt. Gov. Davis shares, the Trump Administration is taking us backward, making it easier for prohibited individuals to access guns and making it harder for the police to do their jobs.
