I am very sad that The Dave Aranda Experiment has failed…but I'm also glad that Baylor is finally ready to *admit* it and move on to something with more chance of success.

I asked what I can do for my country, and the answer came back "do your part to elect people who care about others"

Also, shout out to the Wilco Jester Annex — I don't think I've *ever* taken more than like 30 minutes round-trip to pop over there and vote regardless of how many people show. They've got the efficiency on lock.

Update: I can fly, I'm pilot.

got SO CLOSE to becoming a licensed private pilot today…I just need ONE DAY with decent flying weather to get it done. Today was the rescheduled date, and it was looking good…until it wasn't. (passed the ground, though).

I've eaten a LOT of pizza, most of it very good, in my 40-plus years on earth. But I need y'all to know two things: 1) I am now a New England Greek Pizza enthusiast 2) Athena Pizza in Amherst is doing some black magic here

I am forty-<redacted> years old and just learned from a football broadcasting crew that the city in Arizona is actually pronounced "temp-EE"

Dyatlov: I'm being told the temperature on the field is 120F Bryukhanov: Not great, but not horrifying

temp is off the scale on the field in LA

@marcoarment.bsky.social I'm like a week in with Unforgetful now, and so far it feels like it's the first task app I'm leaning further *into* over time rather than burning out of. No idea what this says about my undiagnosed…whatever.

Just finished my first-ever rewatch of Slow Horses, in preparation for the new season dropping soon, and got my wife hooked along for this go-through. Let me tell you something, this show is *peak* premium TV, and Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb might be the pinnacle of a truly stellar career.

Every so often, I stop and marvel that Vince Gilligan took a spinoff of a cheeseball lawyer supporting character from a show about an unlikely drug kingpin…and make it into one of the most compelling, most human stories of all time.

I've had a lawn mower bot for kind of a while now, running on a schedule 3x weekly in the back yard. Don't think I'll ever get used to my yard just…looking trimmed, all the time (don't you dare look at the edges I KNOW I need to do that still)

The youngsters these days missed out on the (very brief and niche) era of .beats from the original geniuses at Swatch. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swatch_...

no one wants to consider my insane pitch which is to eliminate timezones across the planet so we’re all on the exact same time and force everyone to change their conception of what a day is

my weirdest hot take — the world would be a much more globally-minded place if we all just moved to the Eastman Calendar and Swatch Internet Time.

The first time I heard of Poldark (the show), for reasons I truly can't explain, I got it in my head that he was some sort of detective or private investigator. Anyway, now we're watching it and there is an apalling lack of crime solving by the eponymous character.

I am well aware just how late I am to this party. but Peaky Blinders is hands-down the best role Tom Hardy has ever had and I could watch him in it until the sun fades to nothing.

I have had New England Greek Pizza one (1) time in my life, several months ago when in Western Mass. I simply cannot stop thinking about it.

While I do agree that datetime and time zones can be quite challenging at times…promising to delivery my order 8 days before I ordered it seems a bit optimistic.

a quiet mountain resort catering specifically to introverts. lots of isolated chairs with good views and a library full of books to borrow from, and no expectation of any small talk, ever.

Take a break from the discourse and quote this with a business you would want to start if you could afford to lose money on it

(this, by the way, is what I’ve made of basically every cruise I’ve ever been on. turns out NO ONE actually runs on the “running track” on the level where the lifeboats are, and there are always deck chairs you can disappear into.)

There’s a proposition in my city to allow a company to put up digital billboards and the “how they advertise vs what the vote is” is just…a wild schism.

After weather and other intervening forces have made me reschedule my stage 2 check flight THREE TIMES…today I finally got to knock it out and it went well! Stage 3 should be soon behind, and then I can get this PPL already!

My review of Project Hail Mary: it was precisely the movie I hoped this very special book could provide, and I will watch it a million times.

Me: “Bill Lawrence simply cannot keep dropping certified hits at this rate. It’s unsustainable.” Bill Lawrence: “I’ll see your Shrinking, and raise you a Rooster.”

Gonna be in Boston in a few weeks, obviously I have a new item to top the to-do list while I’m there

PSA: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is *very* fun (I realize everyone else likely has probably already discovered this, but just in case you should know to give it a look)

Sometimes I have trouble talking with people who don’t have every line and beat of Greta Gerwig’s 2019 masterpiece Little Women committed to heart. (watching Little Women with my parents tonight)

At this point, you could pretty easily convince me that Sean Duffy is developing his airline policy focuses by watching old Seinfeld standup bits on air travel.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

Sean Duffy, the U.S. transportation secretary, has been urging people for the past week to dress and comport themselves better as a way of restoring “civility” to air travel. On Tuesday, he added another item to his list of concerns: the quality of the snacks handed out on commercial flights.

I am now *three* episodes into Pluribus. I’m convinced Vince saw Rhea not win anything for BCS, cracked his knuckles, and said “ok, fine. let’s really do this, then.”

I’m only one ep in, so limited sample size, but if you’ve ever been even mildly amused by anything Vince Gilligan has done… RUN don’t walk to Pluribus.
