ONCE MORE, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING. At no point does Reynolds say it is. What is more, a 'government spokesperson stressed there were no current discussions on freedom of movement'. So how does the BBC arrive at this headline?!! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
The woman who was having a go at Stephen Flynn on STV news blaming him for her shop being destroyed by Storm Boelo and not acting quickly enough, well lo and behold she is a Tory candidate and activist, the stv news journalist must have known this but failed to mention it, 👇
Free movement: perhaps. The euro and Schengen: Andy Burnham “can’t imagine recommending” them.
So where does that leave Britain’s relationship with the EU? One possible answer lies in Switzerland.
eastangliabylines.co.uk/news/brexit/...
Around 120 agreements. Free movement. Dynamic alignment. EU budget contributions. The CJEU as final arbiter on EU law.
The Swiss relationship with the EU is rather more interesting than “not a member”. Could Britain follow it? Niall Ó Conghaile reports.
It's clear that BBC news and current affairs, based in 🏴 England, has zero interest in, or awareness of, 🏴 Scotland*

#BBC Radio 4 5pm News considers the radical move to pedestrianise parts of Oxford Street. A spokesperson refers to precedents in other parts of the world eg in South Korea.
Here is what the 3 principal streets of Glasgow city centre: Argyle St, Sauchiehall St, Buchanan St have looked like for years.
I am now safe after being detained and interrogated by Israeli forces and denied entry to Palestine alongside other activists and elected representatives.
I will share a fuller statement tomorrow.
The @scottishgreens.org stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
Jon Kay to Jonathan Reynolds: "You're planning to remove import taxes from products like chocolate, gherkins, marmalade. Your own figures say that will save the average household 40p a week. At a time when [bills] are going up, do you really think people are going to notice 40p a week?"
Should the Highland town of Fort Augustus revert to its original name Kiliwhimin?
🇬🇧Fort Augustus was named in honour of William Augustus (Butcher Cumberland) by General Wade (‘Rebellious Scots to Crush’)
Is it fitting for the town to be named after the man responsible for mass slaughter of Scots?🏴
Absolutely, asking for opt outs is the best way to tell the EU that we are not fully committed to the project and that, once inside, we will oppose any progress. Not the signal a future reliable partner will send. Transactional candidates shouldn't even be listened to.
🇬🇧 Truss is at it again 🤪
The fact that someone so unhinged could become PM of the uk says so much about this bonkers british union 🇬🇧

It’s the same xenophobic nonsense that painted FoM as a negative that was costing the country rather than hugely benefiting both the country and individuals
The obsession with trying to measure everything in £ and €
We want to know the cost of everything while understanding the value of nothing
This perfectly illustrates why England will not be joining the EU for decades. Even the supposedly pro-European forces - eg The Guardian - are viciously nativist and chauvinistic. They just won’t let any opportunity go to “pull a fast one”. It is in their DNA.
Really, what hope is there is agreement can't be reach on something relatively simple and popular as a youth mobility scheme? What "hope" does that give for far more complicated matters? Zero.
My latest blog piece, the £1 trillion cost of the Union to Scotland is revealed as Westminster embarks on a second theft of Scotland's natural wealth. Only independence can ensure Scotland’s vast energy wealth is used to benefit the people of Scotland.
weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2026/10/23/t...
Spot on. The exceptionalism is off the scale. I’ve seen not a single argument from even the ‘pro-EU’ side actually standing up for the EU: for FoM, for Schengen or the euro, just arguments that the UK wouldn’t really have to join them.

Remember this regularly renamed great 🇬🇧 British Government initiative to replace the loss of the EU Regional Fund?
Future High Streets Fund; Town Deals; Levelling Up Fund; and now Labour's Local Regeneration Fund.
It cut out national governments, was a vastly smaller fund - and has mostly failed.
Muslim community members in Bradford, England, helped save the city’s historic Reform Synagogue from possible closure by raising funds for essential repairs and supporting efforts to secure additional financial assistance. The synagogue, established in 1880, was facing serious financial difficulties
£1 trillion
£1,000,000,000,000
That would be 20 billion £50 notes
Weight 22,800 tons
Standard shipping pallets stacked 1.5 metres high hold £50 million each would require 20,000 pallets.
9 Olympic-sized swimming pools
20 billion notes flat on top of each other would reach 2,000 kilometres high
🚨 Westminster finally admits North Sea oil revenues could have built a £1 trillion wealth fund.
🇳🇴 Norway – who have a £1.7 trillion wealth fund after extracting less oil – shows what responsible government can do.
🏴 Scotland’s wealth should be building Scotland’s future.
Our condolences to all those at BBC Scotland on receiving this sad news. Hours of prerecorded analysis, interviews, and editorials with scheduled Debate Night, Phone Ins binned.

Just to remind ppl is £9.90 per item
My wife has stage 4 COPD and takes an extraordinary amount of medication daily
We don't have to pay a penny but if we lived in England it would cost a small fortune
I'm happy to pay a wee bit extra in tax for everyone to benefit
It's only rich ppl who object
I saw a UK Govt ad today acting like they were doing people a favour by keeping charges of £9.90.
Meanwhile, prescription charges were abolished in Wales in 2007, in Northern Ireland in 2010 and in Scotland in 2011.
Wake up England!

Scotland shut out again with regards to our own resources by Question Time. Quell surprise!!
They are actually just mirroring what the UK govt has done for years.

Pooling and Sharing...looks like a one way street to me. It’s our wealth & England are helping themselves to it. Too late to reclaim what they’ve already looted, but we can ensure we keep future revenues in Scotland. Independence isn’t really a choice, it’s an economic necessity.👇

No 🏴 Scottish voice!
The Labour Party’s 🏴 Wes Streeting, the Tories’ 🏴 Tom Tugendhat, the Green’s 🏴 Ellie Chowns, the comedian 🏴 Geoff Norcott and a former BBC economics editor 🏴 Stephanie Flanders will ponder Scotland’s resources in light of the decision to give Jackdaw the go ahead.
The BBC, realising they haven't betrayed Scotland quite hard enough yet, announce they are scrapping the BBC Scotland channel for good measure -
scotgoespop.blogspot.com/2026/10/the-...
Approving the Jackdaw gas field solves none of our problems, while contributing to the existential crisis of climate breakdown. The government has privileged special interests above the general interest. It's a shameful, cowardly decision.
The Govt claiming we must drill more fossil fuels so we can use the tax revenues to fund the green transition is about as logical as a doctor telling you to smoke 2 packs a day to raise the money for your lung transplant
You don’t put out a fire by pouring on more fuel 🔥#Jackdaw
U.K. Labour swept to power with an expensive promise: to create an energy company, hand it billions to invest in British renewables and watch it grow, eventually, to rival other state-owned giants.
Two years after GBE was founded, that hasn’t happened.
Labour's approach to the climate crisis and energy prices. Jackdaw benefits neither. So what was the point? More profit for fossil fuel companies. Less focus on a just energy transition.
On going ahead with Jackdaw:
Sally Nugent: "For people who are going to be struggling to pay their energy bills this winter, what difference will this make?"
Energy secretary: "its really important to be clear that this project does not have an impact on affordability & bills"
Oh dear. Vibes of "They need us more then we need them," "We hold all the cards" and "we can have our cake and eat it"
I want us to join as a full and equal member with no more bloody British exceptionalism.
