Mostly the opinions of Alan, 1/2 of dumb podcast about the Baltimore Orioles, co-owner of @Footballclubgroup, lefty politics, impotent rage against capitalism - the standard bluesky experience.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

If only you had a news organization filled with reporters to, you know, fact check the details of a story bef… ah you know what, never mind. That ain’t y’all.

once again tapping the sign to support billionaire free, worker run, and/or independent news when and how you can. in DC, that means: @streetsensedc.bsky.social @51st.news @washingtoninformer.com @ethiopique202.bsky.social El Tiempo Latino

Bottom line: we can’t rely on billionaire-owned news outlets to do fair & accurate reporting of Trump’s abuse of power. And we need to demand more action from DC Council and our in coming Mayor. They need to be vocally fighting for transparency & accountability of Guard and Feds actions in DC 13/

Me: It sure is annoying seeing all these Yankees fans at Camden Yards. 1996 Baltimore Sun: Lenin warned us about this.

Hey, national Democrats. If you speak about racists and bullies like Ossof is on the debate stage right now, you get my money. Not by texting or emailing or constantly browbeating. New York Dems, you get my money if I see you on the streets or at the hospital in the Bronx tonight.

So this is wild: when Trump won the second time, I wrote down three events that felt like speculative fiction/distopia/out of bounds in a pre2024 world, but that I could maybe see happening as the window shifted. One of them: he brings back firing squads, but live streams the execution.

I know you people are on these apps!!! Help smart reporters dig in here?

4-1 thrashing. We! Are! Toppa the league! We are toppa the league!

First half of the @footballclubgroup.com season is in the can. @terminio.org 3-1 lead. Rappucci and Braian look a cut above after their London adventures over the summer. Team is holding shape well! Forza Terminio! Come on your Dragons!!!

::checks Bluesky:: Good lord, the Ravens must be getting absolutely clobbered. Have they all had their pants fall down? Did the new coach fight a fan?! ::checks score:: ah. Well. They appear to, technically, be winning the game.

Imagine if your high street was filled with businesses owned directly by the people who work, shop and live there. Now, we’re helping make that a reality. Chair of the Co-operative Party Jim McMahon MP shares how we’re doing it with a £10m Co-operative Development Fund.

Bluesky really needs some thing to actually happen, and The Artist formerly known as the Washington Post writing a puff about interview beverages and the Rolling Stone being scolds does not count. Look elsewhere! I’m reading “Via” a collection of poems by Claire Devoogd today!

Trevor Rogers said he'll look for a "quality organization that focuses on winning, has a lot of really good talent, good coaching staff, solid fan base. That's some of the things that I look at, as far as what the future holds. It's going to be fun talking through that with teams"

WhiteSox, you guys seem like a nice crew. And Lord knows you’ve suffered enough over the last few years. But just think: you could do the funniest thing possible (from the perspective of an Orioles fan) and lose the next five!

there are 70 million people for whom this is the biggest song in the world. they watch comedies called like "Wives of Jim" that have run for nine seasons. they're usually pretty affable in person. in 2024 they severed the fate of humanity because of egg prices
