i finished the script for my second graphic novel today. i know i'll change my mind over and over later, but right now...i think it's gonna be good.

i don't know what's in the air right now, but in the past week the script's hit 40% done and the characters are drawing themselves. one way or another, i'm gonna make this book exist.

thanks for coming to my unhinged little sketchjam. seeing everyone respond to the sounds in different ways with their art was so cool. let's do it again sometime 🎼🎢

and honestly if it comes down to it. i'd rather lose $20 every so often rather than have a less vibrant ecosystem of diy queer art. pic related

Garter is actually his second run character. the first Tarnished was an Inquisitor class named Adder (left pic). got a snake naming theme going on

i'll be at these Cartoonists United events this month, see you there perhaps: 🎼✍🏽 hosting Ear and Eye Jam, Oct. 11 πŸ–ΌοΈπŸ’ facilitating Critique Group B, Oct. 19

biiiiig Silk + Cassandra Cain commission done! where they're hanging was artist's choice, so of course i put 'em in a record store with the client's fave albums. soooo freakin fun πŸ•ΈοΈπŸŽΈπŸ¦‡

GREAT read on how to self-publish the niche queer comic/writing anthology of your dreams. finding your people, editing and curating submissions, dealing with marketing and censorship, being real and kind. genuinely: this is the kind of attitude and work that will keep interesting art alive.

for this commission, i really wanted to draw an old-timey elevator. thank you to this client for letting me trap their characters in one. ✨

this last round of comms covered my basic living expenses for a few months (in LA). that's more than any comics industry job has paid me since 2022. it's rough out here...i am very grateful.

i know the hot topic is Emily Wilson's ODYSSEY translation but has anyone else read her BACCHAE (Euripides)? because hooooolyyyyy shit it's good πŸ‡

the language is very direct, beautiful, violent. helpful notes give context specific to Athens ~500 BC, but the play's commentary on political/religious/sexual freedom reads fresh, modern, bizarre, like a queer A24 horror. Dionysus is chaotic and a whole Gender. anyway read it and get back to me
