I'm realizing that a lot of the folks I followed on Twitter I'd actually met at game conventions, etc. I'm still not sure how I'm going to end up using this account, but I thought a proper hello might be in order. Hi! I'm Mike, a tabletop game designer and developer (mostly solo).

In an attempt to share some joy, what was something good about your weekend? We had a leaky sink (not a great start) and my daughter went into full fix-it mode. She found the leak, we went to buy the replacement faucet together, and I walked her through the install. She was super excited.

Any new games out there like Square Valley or Isle of Arrows that have a board game feel but aren't really #boardgames? Those two games are tile layers (puzzle game and tower defense, respectively), but any genre would do. Looking for hidden gems.

Designers, I am begging you, stop over-balancing your games. Some cards *should* be better than others, otherwise your game is flat, and there's nothing exciting that comes off the top of the deck. "Balanced" means that no card is utterly useless, and no card is game-breaking.

There are lots of scouts on the list that haven't met their goals yet. Grab some cookies and try to offset the crummy news you read today about *gestures everywhere*.
