Oh it gets better! "Mr. Trump spoke for several minutes about the remark on his way to a campaign swing in Mississippi, then delivered an extensive aside there on the White House ballroom, helipad and other projects." "Trump ... insisted he had spent 'very little time' on redesigning the [WH]"
“In a six-minute gaggle with reporters on his way to Mississippi, the president devoted more than half his speaking time to Mr. Obama’s remarks.” www.nytimes.com/2026/10/26/u...
Noticed that the new Epstein thing from the Dems on the House Judiciary Committee provoked quite a bit of griping about how it wasn't (MSM) front page news. I also noticed how it never made the Trending list yesterday, made it briefly very early this morning, and now it's gone again. Not much new?
Like an old-time newspaper article, with all the sub-headlines. This is from the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee. I can only hope is gets some coverage in, you know, newspapers. democrats-judiciary.house.gov/media-center...

To: @bsky.app @alexbenzer.com @joshuajfriedman.com @pfrazee.com Sorry, but I am not a fan of the new (beta) version of Notifications when it comes to getting notified of new posts from the people for whom I have this setting switch on. The old way grouped them as one notification. I could 1/2

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.
What I linked to in the OP is press release. A link to their full report is at the bottom of that page, and repeated here (PDF): democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Not more than vaguely familiar with Sludge, and ofc this is something I would LOVE to believe, so I'm staying a little skeptical. But assuming it's true, it is both horrifying and hilarious. h/t @edroso.bsky.social
NEW: The group behind Cornel West's 2024 ballot push was wholly funded through Elon Musk's dark money network, according to Sludge's review of tax documents. readsludge.com/2026/10/26/m...
. @bsky.app Just to be sure that you know: there is glitching going on, at least in the desktop/browser version. Details upon request -- assuming you have heard them already. cc @pfrazee.com @alexbenzer.com @joshuajfriedman.com

The world needs a high-quality, truly open language model. I wrote about why it’s necessary and why it’s easier to build than you might think.
It's easy to dunk on Bezos, and he deserves all of it, but it's worth pointing out that the @washingtonpost.com reporters who have managed to keep their jobs continue to do solid work. Here is a gift link: wapo.st/3W3WdYo Change is coming. Get fired up!

In this thread, he goes on to talk about how everything is great there, and all I can say is: <angry-goose.meme>Then why are you leaving after just one year?
I’ve left Anthropic after more than a year of working on Claude Code and seeing it scale larger than I ever imagined. I have really loved working at Ant and believe deeply in the mission, and most of all, the idea of a race to the top.
"Consumer and wholesale price readings for September were firmer than expected, leaving the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge on track to show no further progress toward its 2% goal—a stall that dates to early 2025." All together now, MAGAts: #BidensFault
The Fed is expected to hold rates steady Wednesday, but it is a closer call on the data than the market-implied probabilities suggest.
Great essay by @paulwaldman.bsky.social
New in PN: Ramaswamy discovers that voters have their limits "This is the nature of today’s right-wing bubble, whose residents are not only acculturated to a particular political style — cruel, often hateful — but become convinced it’s the only effective way to do politics, & any other way is weak"
"There continues to be substantial increases in AI adoption, but it is overwhelmingly for low-cost AI." Also: using claims of "political opposition" to avoid building new data centers that they don't want to build for financial reasons. Also: Ellison in big trouble: Oracle at junk bond level.
The big problem with AI, who is going to pay trillions for this stuff? deanbaker22.substack.com/p/the-big-pr...

Read this post if you're worried about securing the midterms from the Trump administration. I'm not saying it will end all your fears, but it will help to contextualize what's real and what's not.
“I’m actually not terribly concerned about being prosecuted,” Lt Gov Deidre Henderson told me. “It gives me a little bit of hope when they start escalating like this. Because they’re getting a little desperate. Their attempts aren’t working.” www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

Just a nice pic. Something about those flowers. From the Hints page for today's NYT Spelling Bee, "Courtesy of David F. Gasser". Google AI says that are flowers from a Rainbow Eucalyptus tree, which seems correct, from a look at that page on Wkp. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucalyp...
