Check out the first tool from Bind Research: SpinForecast. #NMR is one of the most powerful tools for probing the atomic behaviour of IDPs. But the data can look like a Jackson Pollock painting: a sea of peaks that we must painstakingly match to positions along the protein backbone.

For the remaining signals, it returned a ranked shortlist of likely candidates, with the correct residue appearing on that shortlist more than 97% of the time.

This Sudoku-like puzzle is called assignment, and for gnarly IDPs, it can take weeks to solve. Our recent work combines data from the BMRB with predictions from AlphaFold2 to generate probabilistic assignments for IDPs, streamlining this process.

We tested SpinForecast against independently determined assignments for IDPs of increasing size and complexity. Across fully disordered proteins, it assigned approximately 40–75% of signals with 100% confidence, and those assignments were more than 99% accurate. #NMRchat #NMR #ChemSky

Disordered proteins play key roles in disease but remain largely out of reach for drug discovery. The prevailing assumption is that they are undruggable. At Bind, we ask what it would take to make them druggable at scale. See our white paper and accompanying COSB below.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Bind Research, the UK’s first not-for-profit Focused Research Organisation, with long-term support from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s Research Ventures Catalyst Programme, industry, and charities.
