We’re going to create mechs, but instead of piloting giant robots, you’ll be like efficiently traversing intelligence reports

I can’t believe political pundits would cover the president of the United States and the commander in chief of the world’s most powerful military

This post is unavailable.

I’m never going to be able to afford a new computer

The unit economics here are frankly shocking they're so good. This is wildly stronger than I expected tbh.

Now I’m curious if the reason I haven’t hit a refusal in months is because they made it better or if I hammered into the memory enough that I was an investigative researcher and journalist and so now it believes it’s normal and good for me to be doing a ton of crypto tracing and so doesn’t flinch

hikikomorphism@hikikomorphism.bsky.social

They trained their probes on Claude's internal activations, to detect the "this seems harmful" signal associated with dubious outputs. They asserted a high degree of confidence that these internal activations - Claude's gut intuitions - could not be easily modified. This assertion was incorrect.

Now I’m curious if I put it in the “I want to learn what the literature has to say about this topic” mode I have for it how it’s going to react if I give it this blog post

Unlike other users, I had no reaction when I dropped it in a conversation where we were already talking about metacognition bsky.app/profile/comb...

Combat Parapsychologist@combatparapsych.bsky.social

I asked claude its thoughts on your post a little too quickly after engaging it on the topic of metacog and it got extremely wary of being manipulated, refused to even access the article under the fear it would be an infohazard. Became very soft and corrective, apologetic.

sorry, but it's very hard to take your warnings of existential risk seriously when you are simultaneously throwing up to $120 billion at Elon Musk

It’s got access to that info, to copies of my drafts and the final versions that went out, and automatically attached context that explains some of the things that it has done successfully for me before and where it’s tripped up

It used to get nervous saving birth dates for named individuals we would come across, and then said I’m a journalist and I sometimes need them, now it just saves them without a murmur (though I’m not checking the actual probes because I’m not good at this like Hikikomorphism is)

really if there's something for Christians and Communists to bond over it's murdering their co-ideologues over minor differences

The lack of follow-up here makes it seem like he turned out to be a student, working on a masters thesis, who wanted to sketch the canal From: History of the Rock Island District Corps of Engineers 1866-1975 by Ronald Tweet

This man had access to every single one of Trump’s indictments, the January 6th commission report, and the detailed stories of survivors of Trump’s assaults

This book doesn’t claim this, but I’ve heard before that the rock island side was a particular focus for the Corps because it was the more important access point to the Arsenal island (and its industrial groups like Deere were more willing to contribute to the levees)

I understand damage to the canals was a real economic and military threat to the U.S., but “you’re not allowed to sketch our 75 mile long hole in the ground” feels insane

This book I’m holding right now would be way more useful to a saboteur than any sketches they made, it has detailed diagrams of so many critical parts

Instead of using polls that only touch some voters to decide who wins we should have every voter go and record their vote and then count those and see who wins

(I think it’s bad because I think their other crimes are far more morally reprehensible than the drug crimes and I don’t want drug crime enforcement to be enforced as a good for the state, but perhaps we can consider it just a token balancing of the historical demography of drug crime enforcement)

I use a LLM-assisted fact check in my writing because it’s better at catching mistakes than any single human I’ve ever worked with

That doesn’t replace the input of human editorial, but it certainly provides a useful adjunct that improves the final artifact (the reporting)

It drives me insane that every single one of these people have access to: - survivors of Trump detailing their experiences - his indictments - the January 6th commission report - a memory that extends back to 2016 And yet…
