AAAAAAAAAAH! We have an internal wiki which is your typical WYSIWYG online CMS thingy. I fixed some text on a page and tried to answer a colleague's comment, but couldn't find out how to do the latter. Turns out: you cannot create or answer comments in edit mode.

I obviously enjoy @tomscott.com's England series as a documentary about... stuff. But the strawberry episode today once again reminded me how much I love to see all the people excited to talk about their projects. Just a bunch of fantastic nerds.

Still my favourite gaming experience of the last few years. And 100% mandatory for all math students!

Today is the one-year anniversary of the release of Unfair Flips!!! The game is not on sale today because I forgot. But also it's $1.99 anyways so a sale is mostly in the mind store.steampowered.com/app/3925760/...

Ha, our four-year-old can read two digit numbers and is very cautiously learning to write them. (With the usually, very adorable hiccups.) And very fun: when he says the digits of a numbers, he says the ones place first, and the tens place second.

Watching "The Fast & The Furious" right now. Apart from the nostalgia for flip phones and the excellent music of the 2000s, it hit really hard when Brian looked up the way to somewhere on an actual physical map.

Not really playing simulator games these past few years, but 👀

Reading a story with the four-year-old and a Dachshund appeared. I wanted to explain to him why they look like thak, so I asked: "Do you know why they look like that?" And he answered: "Because they grew like that; they were born like that." And, yeah, 100% correct. Completely shut me down 😅

Oh, this is wild, LMAO. Everyone, listen to this episode! The tl;dr for the peeps in academia: Remove the comments from your TeX files before uploading them to the arXiv. And don't put any sensitive data in there in the first place.

Last week, the German Education Conference awarded me the "Best Reviewer" award. I think I would have preferred if they had accepted our paper instead, but I'll gladly take it 😄

This, of course, has nothing to do with generative AI. Don't send information to websites which you are not comfortable being publicly visible. That has been true 40 years ago as much as it is true today. (And, in particular, don't press the button that says "publish to the web", FFS.)

NEW: A large trove of Claude-generated documents have been exposed to the web and indexed by Google. We reviewed what appear to be real medical records, the full names and phone numbers of school-aged children, and company documents marked for internal use only. futurism.com/artificial-i...

The four-year-old is playing a made game with numbered cards with his Mum. Out of nowhere he said "Zero is the first number, and one is the second". I am very proud 😅

Love how everyone immediately knows who that was.

When I was at uni, a guy in a pirate costume doing a stupid pirate voice ran for student union president. At all the debates, he ran rings around the other candidates. All his daft jokes were clearly based on an intricate knowledge of the real issues on campus. He won with a massive landslide.
