This is our current all time list of d3 alums that have run under the current OTQ standards. Any help is appreciated!

We’re working on an all time marathon list for Division III right now and are looking for some help with our women’s list. Right now we only have 2 women that have run faster than 2:37 prior to 2022. 27 women under 2:37:00 in 4yrs. Have Joan Benoit-Samuelson at 2:21:21 and Gwynn Coogan at 2:32:58.

Really impressed by the USATF LDR January 2026 Report that was sent to us this morning. It was a long email, but incredibly informative. Combo of recapping big performances/athletes and news for this year. Kudos to the chairs for that.

I’m a huge fan of finding new music especially when it’s a newer artist I’ve never heard of or has very few listens. But I keep worrying if I’m listening to something that’s AI created. Spotify needs to have a label for AI created stuff. I don’t want to support that shit.

I’ve had a bit of a theory about the vf2. Basically ran every workout/lr in it for 4 yrs. Did my use of this shoe style for this long have an effect to my foot strike/stride pattern/muscle use. Or Could I have been a super responder to the geometry of this particular shoe?

I feel like most new runner focus way too much on optimizing the little things. Dawg, just put one foot in front of the other consistently and be patient. Not everyone is gonna be okay at it within a year. It took me damn near almost 20 years to get somewhat competitive.

Michael Granville’s 1:46.45 stood as the high school record since 1998. An event widely contested with many attacks on it over the years. Lutkenhaus broke that. Then he ran over 3 seconds faster than his own record. That’s the greatest high school performance I’ve ever seen.

The letsrun article is unfortunate for the image of the USATF. There’s a lot of people in the organization that are working hard with a very limited budget and having the head of it be consistently dismissive isn’t helping.

I saw a popular influencer imply that there is racism when dudes complain about influencers. As a minority who’s spent most of his life in this sport (majority of it when it wasn’t popular) I have to say I have no issues with people who are adding to the community. I have an issue with grifters.

There’s a bunch of influencers who are a value add to the community and do things to grow it. Then there’s people who have created a fandom disguised as a community. The former will be here when this fad is over. The latter will move to their next content creation endeavor.

Say what you will about this being a Nike marketing stunt. When’s the last time we had so many eyes on a woman in track and field like this outside of the Olympics? Particularly in the distances. That’s pretty cool, man.

I’d argue that the GST news leak may be more harmful to the brand than the inevitable cancellation. You now have 12 hours of speculation from the fans and the media, an angry fan base that has to change their plans, and athletes in the dark.

As a So Cal native I don’t know how you come back to LA next year after such an abrupt cancellation. The city ain’t gonna be about it. Especially when you got things like this being leaked as excuses.

Last week the USATF announced the Men's and Women's Olympic Trials Marathon Standards. With this news breaking, I’m joined by fellow trials chaser, Rose City Track Club's own Lauren Ross to chat about the trials standard and lessons/tips for those chasing. creators.spotify.com/pod/show/bee...

One of the oldest boys HS records goes down as Cooper Lutkenhaus breaks Michael Granville’s 1:46.45 800 record from 1996. Lutkenhaus runs 1:46.26 to win the Brooks PR invitational over Owen Powell in 1:46.63. He’s only a sophomore…

At this point I’ve heard multiple rumors regarding the new Olympic trials standard from various people across the country. I’ve seen the men’s standard at 2:16 or 2:17 Women’s at 2:37 Sept 1 window opening. Talk of a A and B standard. If only we had a governing body to set the record straight!

Abbabiya Simbassa breaks the US Road 10k record at the Tokyo Speed Race tonight out in Japan. Breaks the previous mark of 27:48 held by Mark Nerow (1985) and Bernard Legat (2015).

Something not lost on me was the cheers/celebratory messages throughout yesterday from friends I’ve met through brand experiences over the last 2yrs. Despite rocking Puma for race day I had people from my On OTQ program in 2023 and New Balance experience this winter going nuts.

I stopped by the NB marathon relay on Saturday and felt super welcomed by everyone I met in Feb, all asking how I was doing and just super kind. Stopped by the On popup and had a blast talking shop and catching up with some people I wanted to see. “It’s about community.”

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been using the Fast R-3 for the last couple months for the majority of my workouts. I’ve worn my fair share of super shoes over the last 6 years but this felt like I was putting on supershoes for the first time. Will be my race shoe for Boston and CIM.

With all the high school records going down recently I keep wondering if someone will eventually take their shot at Chapa’s 28:32. His 10k record will turn 50 years old next year. That’s insane. Michael Carter’s 24.77/20.65 (senior weight) shot puts are the other oldest (1979)

Solid week, capping it off with racing with the fellas in New York. Heavy legs on race day but closed well to run my second fastest half ever in 67:55. Just a couple more weeks til Boston.

I’ve been writing about my training heading into Boston and eventually CIM at the end of the year. Gonna try to catch up this week while I fly out to NY to race this weekend. But here you go. One of the worst workouts in years and then one of the best beersandmiles.com/2025/03/19/r...

beersandmiles.comRoad to CIM 2025: Mic Check (Feb 24-March 2nd)Anyone else check the weather for the week before they start up? While most of the last couple weeks have been mentally preparing myself for bitter cold miles of each day, I was finally excited to …

Last time I ran Boston they gave a bunch of the higher seeds (I think sub 2:32) a pair of adios pros. This year Adidas stepped it up and sent out Evo 1s. Wanted to make sure these were in hand before I posted it. Holy heck. This alone is worth the price of admission for Boston.

Half marathon race week. I have two available options for this half, a workout pair of strikes with just over 100 miles on em or the light sprays that have just under 50 miles on em. Leaning towards the latter but will be working on with them to see how comfortable I am being aggressive in the shoe.

85 miles this week with two solid workouts. 10x 1k w/ 200 float on Wednesday 18 miles with 15 min @ 5:40-45, 15 min @ 5:20-25, 15 min @ 5:15-20 through a stormy morning on Saturday Hoping for a pretty solid half next weekend.
