Hi all, I've just changed my handle from @StrictlyDave to @bedaved.bsky.social. As I haven't been affiliated with my former employer for quite some time, it felt like the best thing to do. This being said, I do hope to become more active here on bsky. Cheers! 🍻

Very relatable.

The very best UMD release that ever was...

-32°C over here (-27°F)! ❄️ The sun will set in roughly two hours from now, at 2:08pm. In other words, a perfect day to stay inside... playing video games throughout the rest of the day.

2024... such a futuristic year. Definitely the new 1994, but with less 16-bit awesomeness.

"May we all have our hopes, our will to try. If we don't, we might as well lay down and die." as the old Swedish proverb goes... Gott Nytt År! 🍻🎉

The good: I've played some video games, namely NHL 2002 (GBA) and Mario Tennis (GBC). The GBA iteration of NHL is just like the classic NHL games from the 90's, but with more "up-to-date" rosters. I've also been enjoying the "RPG mode" of Mario Tennis. The bad: I'm out of beer.

I was lucky enough to receive an Xmas gift this weekend, and it turned out to be a GB Operator. Found some time today to try it out, as well as the (now) bluetooth-converted Stadia controller I got with a Chromecast purchase made a few years ago. All in all, I had a good time!

This Yule month, I wanted to share my enhusiasm and passion of video games with all of you. I've enjoyed this quite a bit more than anticipated. The post with most interactions turned out to be Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters! ✨ I wish you a great Yuletide together with your near and dear ones!

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 24 Mario Tennis is one of few games compatible with the Transfer Pak, a device that will connect some GBC games with their big brother N64 iterations. I've never played the GBC version, so I should probably do something about it.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 23 I find myself playing Castlevania Chronicles far more often than I play Symphony of the Night. I usually never get very far... but that's OK. Short gaming sessions are also nice. The same goes for being able to alternate between the two game modes.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 22 I'm not 100% on this, but it might very well be so that Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance was the very first game I bought for the Gamecube. I remember this game with fondness. This includes the super-lame Nu Metal video "Immortal", featured in the extras.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 21 "Fight for freedom!", as Sonic Blast Man would put it. This game sadly never saw a release in PAL territories, but it's definitely one of the very best beat 'em ups on the SNES. The soundtrack is as expected when it comes to Taito... Zuntata-awesome!

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 20 There's something about the soundtrack of Tokyo 42 that just makes me feel pretty untroubled. I often find myself returning to tracks such as "Kyrie" and "Go Go Go". The PS4 Pro enhanced isometric action gameplay is also nice.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 19 Here's my fav Evercade release, sporting two beautiful 16-bit entries. Xeno Crisis in particular holds a special place in my heart due to the physical PS4 and NSW releases by SLG, but both games are excellent representations of the true "new retro" wave.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 18 Here's another disc-based game, but this time for Microsoft's first home console. Originally released on PC in 2002, it was the XBOX version of Morrowind that showed me what open world gameplay was all about. I've easily spent 1K+ hours in this game.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 17 When Diablo III was released back in 2012, I found myself a brand new copy of Diablo II to revisit the experiences I made over a decade earlier. Good times relived! The only thing missing was an old scool LAN party. Maybe next time...

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 16 Getting to experience the PC Engine library has been such a great journey, and I have still a lot of games to go. Here's one of particular interest, namely the quirky shoot 'em up Hana Taaka Daka!? by Natsume. I'm very lucky to have it in my collection.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 15 The release of Ultracore is definitely one of Strictly Limited's finest moments. Although it never received its physical PS Vita release, this 16-bit pixelated thrill ride of a game may now be found in the libraries of video game enthusiasts worldwide.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 14 It was a long time coming, but Chrono Trigger eventually received its first official release in PAL/PEGI-land. Naturally, the wireless DS multi-card play option warrants not just one... but two copies of the game. Time to make history!

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 13 Metal Slug: 2nd Mission is probably my fav game on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. To be fair, it may very well be my fav Metal Slug overall. Play it any way you can, but preferrably on the NGPC for that authentic feel. Pure Run 'n Gun awesomeness awaits!

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 12 The Dragon's Trap might be considered the better game of the two, but nostalgia hits me far harder when it comes to Wonder Boy in Monster Land. This game is pure Master System magic!

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 11 What about a 2.5D platformer on the N64, featuring a 4-player co-op mode? Mystical Ninja 2, also known as Goemon's Great Adventure in the Americas, ticks all of these boxes and more. I mean... it's Goemon, after all.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 10 I have a confession to make. I have yet to play this game. I've bought it twice. First the European CE (still unsealed), and then a second time when someone locally sold me his used copy. I've also got all of the amiibo, so... yeah. Good times ahead!?

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 9 The sequel to Kid Icarus (NES) arrived on the humble Game Boy in the early 90's, but peculiarly only in the West... despite being developed by legendary Japanese dev R&D1. Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters is one of my all-time fav games for the system.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 8 Not to be confused with Power Strike II on the Master System, here's the European release of GG Aleste II. Unfortunately, it was never released in the Americas. Power Strike II is - without a shadow of a doubt - the best game on the Game Gear... imho.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 7 I never got to play Final Fight 3 back in the day, but it's OK. The soundtrack is really something and sets the mood perfectly for the exquisite 16-bit brawling action. If I find myself without a co-op player, the "AUTO 2P PLAY" mode is a nice substitute.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 6 My fav version of Alien Hominid is to be found in the GBA library. I first learned about this game after playing Castle Crashers by the same dev. Is Alien Hominid the best Run 'n Gun on the system? It might very well be, imho.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 5 A video game that needs no introduction. SMB3 is truly an experience that will stand the test of time. I should play this 8-bit masterpiece more often... preferably with a friend.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 4 Here's one of my fav Strictly Limited releases ever! The brilliant shoot 'em up Gundemoniums for the PS Vita. It went up for sale in the fall of 2018 and shipped approximately two weeks later. Good times. Releases like this one built the house of SLG.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 3 Some Ninja games are just plain better than others. A perfect such example is KAGE, also known as "Shadow of the Ninja" and "Blue Shadow" outside of Japan. What makes this game particularly awesome is the co-op mode. The soundtrack is also pretty dope.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 2 Civilization Revolution was not the game I wanted. A lot of gameplay mechanics from the main series were cut from the two console spin-off games, and it was definitely not for the better. I'm so happy that the strategy changed with CIV VI.

JULKALENDERN 🎄 LUCKA 1 Some say that it's the very best NHL Hockey video game of the 16-bit era. I'd argue that NHL 96 is the best iteration of the bunch, but NHL 94 definitely deserves its place as one of the most impactful sports games of all time.

Has anyone ever heard of vinyl records being graded and then encapsuled in acrylic cases? Just imagine vinyl being graded this way, or CDs for that matter. If such a practice doesn't make sense to you, it shouldn't make sense when comes to video games. To each their own, but wtaf?!

SEGA Master System & kaffekask! Wonder Boy in Monster Land is the game for the evening. Good times!

Pet peeve: This is not a cartridge. It's a game card.

I got a question yesterday what I thought about Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and it made me ponder. I'm in no rush at all playing it. I mean, I barely played the last Mario game. As of right now, I'd rather hone my skills playing games from the 80's and 90's. Will this change? I don't know. Maybe.

Support your fav indie dev. Share their updates and like their posts. If possible, support them monetarily. I've been setting aside a small sum of cash each month for such stuff. Highly recommended if economically viable for you. It's making a difference.

Thrashing about to Rebel Extravaganza by Satyricon and having a few beers. Good times!

It just struck me what the XBOX "Achievement Unlocked" sound reminds me about. It's pretty much the same sound as the one that plays when you've cleared out a monster lair in Soul Blazer. Awesome.

Today, and every day until I die, I'll be celebrating the non-digital legacy of XBOX... 🍻

I'm helplessly stuck in the 16-bit era. It's OK, though.

I sadly won't be at gamescom this year, but the Strictly Limited team will! Make sure to stop by the booth and say "Halli-hallo!" to my colleagues! ✨ Kein Kölsch für mich... 🍺😬

Found this CD for a quid and just had to pick it up... boy.

The updated GC Loader will go live tomorrow, and I'm feeling the hype! I'll be the first in line. GC Loader 🇳🇱 https://gc-loader.com/product/gc-loader-pnp-hw2/ Black Dog Tech 🇺🇸 https://www.black-dog.tech/gc-loader-pnp-1.html
