Hey friends, I'm very pleased to announce (the atmosphere's first?) open source PDS entryway! This project compliments atproto-pds, a stable and performant PDS that supports spaces, account delegation, and plenty of other neat features. atproto-crates.com/entryway.html

And – though I had very little to do with this – I'm very proud of what @mk.gg and the team around @emdashcms.com have created. This can genuinely now be the 'spiritual successor to WordPress', the team have built a prototype into a real 1.0 product. blog.cloudflare.com/emdash-cms-p...

Check out @danielroe.dev’s work in making developer tools to turn the atmosphere account you already have into a CMS for building websites.

🙋‍♂️ ever wanted to build something without needing to configure a db, auth, file storage or a cms? it turns out you already have all four if you have a bluesky account 👉 airspace is a typed client for it

EmDash is a CMS written entirely in TypeScript, serverless by default, powered by Astro under the hood. It is MIT licensed & fully #opensource. You can deploy it to Cloudflare in one click or run it on any Node.js server you already have. #trending #wordpress firethering.com/emdash-cloud...

Can't reply, so I'm quoting. They're not completely wrong, it is important to have a PDS you trust because that is your gateway to The Atmosphere. It holds the private key that signs your records, the part I always think is missed here though is it's a two-way relationship/validation... context:

There are over 3000 independently hosted Personal Data Servers (PDS) where atproto accounts are stored. You can use any of them to sign into the Bluesky app, but currently you need to manually input the name of your server. Samuel previews an upcoming change where your host is autodetected.

coming soon: automatic PDS detection. selfhosters rejoice!

Continuing our discussion on online safety legislation in Canada... another one we've wrestled with: How do you reduce bots, fraud, and impersonation without turning platforms into giant collectors of sensitive identity data?

You are up to date.
