I’m an analog kind of person, but I also do computer stuff for a living, so I decided to merge the streams and build an app for my favourite non-work activities: #filmphotography and #darkroom printing. The result is Darkroom Toolkit. Check it out: www.darkroomtoolkit.com

Big weekend for documentaries. You Can See Everything and The History of Concrete were both excellent

It lives! Extremely niche side project alert: refurbishing this animation stand camera to shoot film again. Making good progress 🤞🏻 #believeinfilm #animation #35mm

The old spring wound Bolex H16 (Rex4) sounds a little frightening at 64fps, but I like the result! 🎞️ Kodak 250D 7207 #16mm #filmphotography

Stills from a roll of #16mm #film shot in Berlin. Can’t wait to go back this fall. 🎞️ Kodak Double-X 7222 🎥 Bolex Rex4 👁️ Angénieux 5.9mm T2

Had one of those moments where you dig out a cable triumphantly from an ancient box of cables. Alas I cannot heed its warning.

This project started because I was making something for myself, but connecting with others during the process has been an unexpected pleasure. I also learned a ton about React Native, Expo, and native app development along the way.

What are people using for mac font management these days? I’m still clinging to FontExplorer X (killed by Monotype in 2022)

sign in as the temporal manifestation of an incorporeal spiritual essence 👻

y’all are atmosphere brained go touch grass

One of many optimistic things I saw at the atmosphere conference was how much potential the social aspect of @npmx.dev has to introduce developers to the protocol (that for whatever reason aren’t as likely to give bluesky a chance).

Encouraging anyone coming to Vancouver for #AtmosphereConf to EAT while you’re here. Toshi, Tatchtan Noodle, Dachi, and Kulinarya to name just a few spots worth checking out.

The UBC campus location is beautiful, but waay over on the west side. Don’t be shy about crossing town!

So many hours spent

Sanity@sanity.io

We bet you've spent more hours than you'd admit getting a row of partner logos to look right. Our colleague @rosti.no automated it. Pixel density analysis, aspect ratio normalization. Just maths (not AI). npm install react-logo-soup 🧪 sanity.io/blog/the-logo-soup-problem

Last chance to download! LL Agip77 is free for download until Jan. 1 at Lineto.com LL Agip77 is the third font in a series of design exercises playfully reflecting on the DNA of Lineto’s neo-grotesk superfamily, LL Unica77.

At first, I thought I could just rotate the hue of HSL colors and call it a day. Since then, I've learned about perceptual color spaces, OKLCH, Bezold-Brücke effect and I still can't always get good programmatic palettes 😅 But I built Color Palette Pro to help get us halfway there: colorpalette.pro

colorpalette.proColor Palette Pro — A Synthesizer for Color PalettesGenerate customizable color palettes in advanced color spaces that can be easily shared, downloaded, or exported.

I understand the enormous pressure they must be facing to embed “AI capabilities” like Make, but as a long time user and customer it’s completely baffling

Time to pull this off the back burner

Just finished adding processing instructions for every black and white film currently being produced to Darkroom Toolkit One step closer to completing all the data entry. Chemistry formulas are up next.
