The John Sebastian is a lightship (a floating, moveable lighthouse) built in Bristol in 1885 and now permanently moored in Bathurst Basin. Over her distinguished career she is believed to have saved the lives of hundreds of seafarers. She is now the home of Cabot Cruising Club.

Pro-Europeans really need to get their act together if they're going to sieze the opportunity which is being presented here. Press and broadcasters reverting right back to their previous position from 2016, with zero update.

This went on for the rest of the full hour, at which point the BBC apologised for having to go to the weather and urged viewers to follow continuing live coverage on iPlayer. Forty-one minutes of unfiltered, unchallenged propaganda by a far right party with 8 MPs, now third in the polls. Discuss.

Alex Andreou@sturdyalex.bsky.social

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Booked a delivery slot 9-10 and they're only 2 stops away just round the corner. Chances they turn up before 8? (This happened a couple of weekends ago when the guy arrived at 7.30 and didn't even apologise for being 90 mins early!)

We get similar emails at Bellingcat, usually from peolle who have been scammed and have asked ChatGPT for help.

Seems like ChatGPT encourages people to contact journalists to solve their personal tech problems: „Last night, someone emailed me (…) asking for an “independent investigation” into why their Verizon cell phone service wasn’t working on their iPhone.“ #aislog www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

Of course the UK 'doing a better job' has meant that, instead of 60,000 'unelected bureaucrats' as employed across all EU bodies to serve 27 countries, the UK now has an extra 100,000 bureaucrats aka civil servants to cover the same jobs just for 1 country...

Still haven't properly turned the heating on. It's come on overnight a few times because we have a 15C minimum. Think I put it on at the start of October last year!

💯The case for democracy is not that voters are always right, or wise, or good. It's that they can correct their mistakes. That's why it's so dangerous to have billionaires controlling the media or regulating the flow of information. It shuts down the immune system of democracy.

Rob Ford@robfordmancs.bsky.social

I was having conversations with journalists just a few months ago about whether democracy was doomed. Look at this year: Orban defeated. Vukic defeated. Bolsonaro Jr defeated. Trump heading to likely defeat in midterms. That’s the beauty of democracy. Voters can respond. Don’t count it out yet.

Ahaha watching the end of the gym on BBC and enjoyed Olly and Blythe making a spurious entry on commentary at the end of the HB final!

Yes, most of the public have no idea how far-reaching the loss of FoM is for British nationals. It's more than not being able to work, marry, live, retire, or study in another EU nation. It deeply affects UK workers, artists, musicians, business people, and, of course, the free movement of goods

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

Naomi has polling evidence, I have trade policy evidence that Made in Europe means the UK being further squeezed out of manufacturing supply chains, and that talking about Freedom of Movement is a response to that.

Not for the first time I'm on a train which is terminating at a different station to the one the train manager thinks it does. I do wonder how the app knows before they do? Last time I had to break it to him.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

I posted earlier today about Iain Stamp, a conman who was sentenced to 12 months jail and fled to Northern Cyprus. He's suing me in a Wyoming court for $795m (!), and told the court he lives in the UK. I just used the stupidest trick ever to find out where he really is.

They are making too much of a deal about the 2-minute enquiry business. Absolutely ruining the end of every competition. Though now they are ruining it even more with Sweet Caroline.
