Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying

Day 3 finished at 27,477. I think this is the lowest I've ever ended at I do have a stronger idea what I need to do with this book, and things I need to do when I'm re-writing the book before it, though. So even though this is a mess, I'm feeling better than I did yesterday. #3DayNovel #4thewords

Day 2 ending at a total of 18,728 words. This is under where I wanted/needed to be. I had no focus today. Fortunately, tomorrow I don't need to save review time this year, so I'm hoping to make up the ground. #3DayNovel #4thewords

Starting Day 1 of the #3daynovel a little late. I even went to bed (just) before midnight last night so I could get up early. So much for that plan 😜

Quick tutorial on how to opt out of Meta's new feature which allows anyone to tag your Instagram handle to generate AI images of you. @evystadium.bsky.social on Muse Image in 40 seconds:

As a small press, minuscule even, vetting every submission that comes in for an anthology call is... well, that's a lot of work. Time/energy/staffing to do that work will detract from a different area. So I can see how an AI story could slip through the cracks. 1/

As part of Meta’s Muse Image model rollout, Instagram users with public accounts need to opt out to block AI generations of their content. www.wired.com/story/meta-n...
