Yesterday ended the P99 CONF and there were many interesting presentations. Whether I like it or not, AI will stay in one form or another and it is producing mind boggling amounts of data with increasing requirements. That’s why we need to optimize more, cut down the bloat. p99conf.io

It’s not a great experience to wait minutes for a report to load a few graphs, especially when you pay thousands - each month. And then the shit crashes, because the request was too big. 🫣

There has been so many news about new community ports for games, jailbreaks, emulation… oh, and people trying to rebuild popular software suites. Seems like AI can fuck both ways. At least the companies have a loyal customer base due to the great customer services, right? RIGHT?! 🤣

I tried to use OpenAI's Codex to create an app for 2 days to see what works and what doesn't, what I can adopt for my personal workflows and so on. My current feeling: this is the fucking worst experience I had in a while, and I feel miserable.

The $20 subscription isn't going to take you far, it burns through the tokens way too fast. And after a prompt I'm sitting there like the meat bag I am, waiting somewhere between 10 and 50 minutes until my AI overlord requires further assistance.

My prompts were 100% garbage, so I got it to write a more detailed prompt that I could prompt back. Brother. What the fuck are we doing at this point. And the clanker still produces buttons that don't work. Frontier models, my ass.

I'm trying to get into TypeScript for work, so I thought I should use some of my OpenAI sub, and use it as a guide for learning. I'm only 3 hours in, and it's already regretti spaghetti. I don't think this is going to work, unless I setup some teaching skills or guardrails.

It's less of leading me to an answer to my question, and more of "here is the solution". In Codex it's worse, because it stopped asking for permission and directly modifies project files. The questions have to be very specific, otherwise it just generates some samples without any explaination.
