ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it

cool, cool

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

I feel this in my bones. My father was abusive to me his entire life, once swatting me after we got into an argument while my parents were visiting. He drove off and left my mom here, then called the cops and said I kidnapped her. This was on top of years of physical abuse. Even after this,

In MAGA, parental estrangement is a big issue — and parents are held out as blameless victims. I suspect that's one reason why Vivek Ramaswamy ran an ad celebrating Amy Acton's vile mother. And why MAGA — including Vance and Trump — are backing him. www.salon.com/2026/10/23/r...

I tried to maintain a relationship, helping him financially for a couple of years, before he blew up again and I finally cut him out of my life. My mom finally left him too (she was also abused), but when DOGE happened she went full tilt MAGA, saying horrible things about government workers -

which meant about me, since I worked for the federal government. When I told her that was hurtful, she said “don’t take it personally.” Now she wonders why I rarely call. But sure, blame the kids.

Billionaires throw a fit at the idea of an annual wealth tax... but literally everyone else already pays one via property taxes (either directly as a homeowner or secondarily as a renter). The only reason securities aren't taxed the same is because that's where the rich keep most of their wealth.

“The borrowing let Ellison keep his stock and avoid locking in taxable gains, and highlighted how billionaires often employ a strategy called ‘buy, borrow and die’ to retain their wealth without selling assets.”

I've convicted over 350 fraudsters, one every 8 days. Ron knowingly took donations from fraudsters who stole $1.6 million from the government. Who do you think is really serious about fighting fraud?

crazy moment in Minnesota as AG Keith Ellison torches Republican Ron Schutz for accepting donations from fraudsters — and Schutz admits it

I went out of my way to find “dumb” kitchen appliances when we remodeled a couple of years ago. It was actually difficult to find higher end units that didn’t have internet connectivity. That decision looks better every day.

This is horrible, but not surprising. The people who need to hear this won’t, and even if they do they will not believe it.

WOW. Kristi Noem and Elon Musk, among others, "chose to turn the power of the federal government against a singular employee with an impeccable record of public service. ... The attacks against Ms. Comans were based entirely on false information" and many officials "knew [they] were untrue."

No doubt this has occurred to other bystanders as well, but it would seem that a handful of billionaires dropping $150 million into a single state's election in an attempt to defeat a wealth-tax initiative just about makes the entire case for a wealth-tax initiative.

I rarely buy from Amazon - it's a place of last resort. This list appears to have been populated because I bought a naked portafilter and a can of La Tourangelle Pistachio Oil (I couldn't find either locally). Amazon doesn't know much more about me, and I plan to keep it that way. Duck Duck Go FTW.

I haven’t heard anything about Jimothy lately. I hope he’s still doing okay. (Everyone has random thoughts like this, right?)

This is how I learned about this song, and I am terminally online.🤷‍♀️

This kind of take made a Rolling Stone writer so mad they wrote a whole piece about it.

I’ve been working in the anti-fraud space for 16 years, specifically in consumer protection for the past two. If you think you are immune from being fooled, think again. I’ve seen PhDs, lawyers, young and old people from all backgrounds fall victim to clever scammers. It’s a scary time.

Been seeing a lot of discourse about online gambling, and realized I don’t know what parlay means other than in Pirates of the Caribbean. I am not planning to find out. I went to Vegas once, quickly lost the $50 I allowed myself to play with at a blackjack table, and that was enough gambling for me.

I’ve often thought to myself “You know what would make everything better? If they rearranged the dishwasher tablets so the red ball was in the corner instead of the center.” Thank you, Finish, for hearing my prayers.

Happy 72nd Birthday to Ruby Bridges, who at the age of 6 desegregated the New Orleans public schools. She’s younger than 30 senators and our last two presidents—and only 7 years older than Barack Obama. The past isn’t past.

Prince playing at Dakota Jazz Club c. 2012. My husband had just been laid off, and I couldn’t justify spending $250 on a ticket. Courtney Barnett at Surly Field 2017 - my dad died. Public Enemy at Mystic Lake earlier this month - had to take a friend to the hospital.

How about this? Best concerts that you ALMOST got to see but DIDN’T. Include reasons if you like: Rolling Stones (play rehearsal) Johnny Cash (I dallied) R.E.M. (play performance) Nirvana (canceled, college declined to pay requested $500 appearance fee)

What horseshit. She embraced gay people at the height of the AIDS crisis, embraced trans people at the height of the war against them, supported Black communities and artists, and wrote the most pro-worker's rights feminist pop song of all time. Neutral my ass

"At a time when no American celebrity seems immune from the country’s many divisions, Dolly Parton was a crossover icon who stayed neutral in the culture wars while still speaking her mind," writes Zachary B. Wolf. | Analysis

DJT said that Dolly Parton liked him a lot. She probably said "Bless your heart" and he thought it was a compliment. RIP Dolly, you absolute legend.

not sure how to express this without sounding like a chair-turned-around youth pastor, but there's something so radical about having your most well-known lyric be "i will always love you" and then sincerely embodying it whenever possible

The United States and Canada have been friends, partners, and allies for more than 150 years across 32 presidential administrations. And now, solely because of the arrogance, incompetence, and ego of the current occupant of the White House, that relationship is being driven straight toward a cliff.
