NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report.
Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.
Some ground rules that have helped us:
- Go outside your bubble, try new social media channels
- Don’t underestimate the power of WhatsApp (although less so in the U.S.)
- Post on the Instagram grid, not just stories
- Watch every Instagram video until the end before sharing
- IGNORE THEM
I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.
Canadians, we need to take notice of this. We don’t fight with much might, but look where strength in numbers, conviction based on real needs for the people, look where it can get you. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
In January, ActiveHistory.ca launched a special series examining the Indian Act and it history. I wrote a short piece, as an introduction, that lays out some of the basics and included a selected reference list: activehistory.ca/blog/2026/01...
I hear the winds of the Harper era blowing in… all the “abolish the Indian Act” talk… feds would love nothing more than to drop its fiduciary and treaty obligations. Saw this coming with Carney’s conservative extractive agenda. #cdnpoli#indianact#treaties
I want to let ppl know that there are economists trained in economic theory that can explain how the economy works and provide great insights into economic thinking that are anti-imperialist, socialist, anti-fascist. And they studied from the same textbooks neoclassical economists use
Highly recommend this @broadbent.bsky.social hosted dialogue: @avilewis.ca interviewing economist @isabellamweber.bsky.social about her new book on Anti-Fascist Economics. A very rich conversation:

The province of Alberta put immigrants and racialized people living in Alberta at risk for violence and harassment with this vote. It showed that this is acceptable to treat immigrants/racialized ppl as less-than. This will have major implication including the creation of a permanent underclass
The province, pivoting from the referendum results, has now chosen this moment to re-up its campaign, banning rainbow Pride flags, Treaty Flags and the flag of the Metis Nation, from Alberta's schools. I hope Albertans will not forget the lessons of the last few months too soon.
She reminded the congregation that she was not a permanent resident, that she had come to Alberta as a refugee from the war in Ukraine. She explained how shocked she was to receive a pamphlet from the government, telling people to vote in favour of removing rights and benefit from people like her.
What if the person buying the exact same groceries as you was paying less?
An investigation found Instacart used AI-powered pricing experiments to show shoppers different prices for identical items — sometimes up to 23% higher.
@lindsayowens.bsky.social of @groundwork.bsky.social explains.
Alberta voted to put immigrants on notice. What is clear is the associated violence already began way before the referendum. All racialized people in the province have a target on their backs

More than 175 years after slavery was abolished in France, the country’s lawmakers voted on Tuesday to strike out the government regulations overseeing the practice that had remained in the French legal code.
🇺🇸 & 🇨🇦 asking why they can’t be like 🇫🇷 : because racism and capitalism hold you back. There is a cult of property that means that any damage to it is the moral equivalent of mass murder. And you’ve had protests for equality from racialized ppl: Blk ppl in 🇺🇸 Indigenous ppl in 🇨🇦 . You demonized them
Immigrants work super hard and accept/ignore all sorts of racist, colorist, classist, ableist, casteist shit because the only consequence of calling any of this shit out in Canada is isolation, ostracization, demonization, poverty, unhousedness, mental illness, and eventually death.
Imagine a news organization giving credence to the possibility that one group of people are responsible for Canada’s socioeconomic woes (“fairly or not” means there’s a possibility it’s true). That’s discriminatory and how far-right rhetoric is platformed by mainstream media

I assumed the response to the Omar harassment was muted because there's an assumption that she'll win in the end.
But @sophiatesfaye.bsky.social is probably right that the press has been cowed by right-wing conspiracists into thinking they may have something.

Polling places don't have the required resources or interest in supporting disabled voters. For Disability Culture Currents, Eric Welsby, Advocacy Director of Detroit Disability Power, dives into challenges to accessible voting — and how we can address them. Read more: tinyurl.com/DCCurrents.
The number of women held by ICE has increased by 31% since 2024.
The deportation agenda is driving the expansion of the criminal legal system, and women are no exception.
(🧵1/5) Bill C-39 violently attacks Indigenous rights by allowing the government to bypass their constitutional obligation to obtain free, prior and informed consent.
This is frightening and will set a precedence that aims at removing mostly racialized people from American society
Funny thing is these efforts have unintended consequences such as Melania possibly facing the same fate
Almost 100,000 women in the U.S. are in jail.
Most of them are legally innocent and are trapped behind bars awaiting trial — largely because they cannot afford bail.
My latest column imagines the following: let’s say for sake of argument Alberta secedes, it would never becomes a state: www.hilltimes.com/2026/10/14/s...
German police have seized a humanoid robot after it allegedly touched a 16-year-old girl in an indecent manner and made sexually suggestive gestures toward her. The two young men apparently livestreamed the incident in the western city of Cologne on social media.
