This is a generalisation, however, the data industry is an embarrassment. The willingness we have displayed to relinquish our knowledge, skills, and critical thinking is worrying at best, but closer to truly pathetic. I'm struggling to comprehend how bad it has become in such a short space of time.

I can't stress enough the importance of making shitty things. Shitty writing. Shitty art. Shitty paintings. Shitty films. Shitty songs. Shitty sculptures. Shitty is beautiful, because it's human. There's no glory without shitty. Get out there and shit things up.

It’s great to have spaces where you can indulge in a hobby without constant reminders of how stupid *everything* is.

Hi #Playdate Community! Me and some other devs have put together a new unofficial server for people developing for the playdate device. No minimum skill level required. The server is dedicated to human creativity (no AI) so come by Playdate Café if that sounds like your vibe: discord.gg/ppqeURy9m

It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.

I don’t know who was the one in here that recommended Wide Ocean Big Jacket, whoever you are you didn’t miss. It’s such a charming, funny and heartfelt game.

¡Vamos Ecuador! Cheering on Ecuador in today's World Cup match! An excellent excuse to play/pickup @despelote.game, a slice-of-life adventure set in 2001 Quito, Ecuador during the World Cup qualifiers ⚽🇪🇨

"Game dev is one of those jobs you only do when you really want to. It's not going to make your parents proud, you're unlikely to get rich in an industry that lays off people for making superhits, and its a demanding & confrontative job. Why would you let a machine do the thing you're here to do?"

I spent the last few months talking to over 30 game developers about generative AI. It began as a sort of interview survey but became a pretty comprehensive collection of arguments against the technology altogether. www.gamesradar.com/games/why-so...

Lots of things are happening at Voilà, which means I never have time to talk about them, but I didn't want to wait to share today's news: Our project "Close to Home" with the @climateinstitute.bsky.social is a finalist at the Anthem Awards. 🙌 It's about building homes in a changing climate. 🔥 🏠 :🌊
