'[DuVernay] wants audiences to “make their decisions about how they feel” about the technology...' So she's not just outsourcing her creative decision making but her morality too. (TL;DR, I have made my decision for how I feel about the technology and its users, and it's not great)

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Bolsonaro had corrupt media on his side, Meta interference on his side, US propaganda operations, and his party's officials actively sabotaging public transport in Lula strongholds to prevent turnout. Yet he was still beaten by the power of voter turnout.

Ok, but that's clearly an isolated use-case, there's certainly not anybody in any other country that could benefit from adopting this strategy.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

An enormous fire all but destroyed an infamous Nazi-era guesthouse known as the Eagle’s Nest in southern Germany, according to the police, who said on Saturday that a man had been arrested in connection with the blaze.

"The pie shall be cut in two. Then each man will receive ... death. I'll eat the pie."

“All we did was go from Woodstock to Reagan in 11 years, vote for Trump three times, and death-grip the levers of society into our eighties, and now for whatever unrelated reason my children won’t even pick up the phone”
