In the age of AI, how can a platform know whether an account belongs to a real human, not a bot or AI agent? Should every platform have to verify this itself, collecting personal data? At #Trefdag26, @robin.berjon.com and I demonstrated a different model that separates the responsibilities:

Building trust while preserving privacy and choice. At Athumi, we’re exploring optional identity verification on AT Protocol without publishing personal details on the protocol. @robin.berjon.com and @david.athumi.eu will present the demo at #Trefdag26.

This is just the demo (come see us presenting it with @vdbdavid.eurosky.social at www.vlaanderen.be/trefdag-vlaa... next week!) but: - Optional ID verification - Only showed my ID to the government, super easy with myGov.be - My details aren't stored on protocol

How can Europe build digital infrastructure that is both resilient and sovereign, without closing itself off from the world? Great to have @robin.berjon.com joining us at #Trefdag26 to explore that question, and how interoperability and open ecosystems can strengthen Europe’s digital resilience.

Identity, data and applications do not have to be controlled by one provider. Separating these roles reduces dependency and preserves freedom of choice. Real resilience comes from interoperable infrastructure where providers can compete, cooperate and be replaced if needed.

Digital sovereignty means self-determination and freedom of choice: the ability to set your own rules, choose your providers and switch when needed, without losing control over critical data or operations.

How prepared are we if foreign technology suddenly becomes unavailable? In De Tijd, Athumi CEO Björn De Vidts argues that digital sovereignty is not about full independence, but resilience: knowing our dependencies and being ready to act when they are disrupted. www.tijd.be/opinie/algem...

Digital sovereignty is about control and keeping options open. At CIONET, Athumi shared how we reduce technology dependencies step by step, without compromising security, compliance or efficiency. 💡Exit readiness is a capability, not a crisis response. www.cionet.com/events/be/th...
