"Find my" power tool hackaday.com/2024/09/23/f... led me down the rabbit hole of zephyr, openhaystack, nRF52840, ... luckily I had ordered a few NRFs from seeedstudio with my last esp32 purchase Now I need to see if a 3+ year old project zephyr-openhaystack still works well enough for a noob

hackaday.comFind My Power Tool BatteryApple’s Find My network has seen its fair of hacks to devices, but perhaps the most unusual we’ve seen is before us today. [biemster] has added a Lidl Parkside smart connected power too…

Here is some 🌱 trick (and code!) When placing object randomly using Math.random() they often clump together and overlap and create empty gaps. Can we do better? Yes! Hammersley point set to the rescue. For given N it creates N pseudo random numbers in the range [0..1, 0..1] almost event. spaced.

ahh... so this is how you connect the bottom of the seeedstudio xiao boards (battery / extra GPIO on certain boards) that aren't on the edges. You have a via (I think they are called) and pcb cut! I have hated soldering wires to this module to connect the LIPO battery... Watched TOTEM build...

Testing out various ways to design this "ribbed" side pattern in a curve-y shape in #onshape. The left part was designed with the rib having the designed shape. The right was box-y until I chamfered at the end. The end result looks the same! one just had 3x the number of clicks to chamfer

Writing the post above I realized a chamfer is a chamfer regardless of when I do it If I chamfer the rib part before I "curve pattern", or after - it is still the same chamfer... Let this be a lesson to you! Just think a little bit about what you are REALLY doing... duh... a chamfer is a chamfer

Why haven’t there been many new UX / interaction advancements for LLMs? Feels like we’re stuck in the chat paradigm when there could be so much more. In 2025, embrace non deterministic outputs, and leverage them to go where you never thought you could.

Prompt: Vertical or horizontal lines only. Coded in featurescript #onshape #genuary #genuary2025 #genuary1 I have no clue what I'm doing - so it ends up with gridSize^2 unique parts... Luckily printing on the Bambu doesn't care

🤯 I’m wearing a prototype ring I designed and 3d printed that has a computer with wireless coms and more storage/processing speed than I had ever used until I was in college 🤯 No battery yet, so it will be a little bigger once I add the 100mAh battery - another 2.8 gram / 13mm x 19mm x 6mm

Jesse Andrews@anotherjesse.com

let's see how annoying having a ring like this to hold the Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32S3 as a "press & hold to record / transcribe audio" is lots of iterations to do - but if it is too bulky/annoying with a crude shape, then no reason to build something nice learnings: pointer needs a ~22mm hole 😂

lol ... it fell out ... somewhere in my house ... in the last hour and I have no clue I dropped a computer faster than the one I had in the late 90s and lost it because it is smaller than a postage stamp

found it - I am using generic magnet USB cables to simplify the charging - the magnet had made it stick to metal leg of a table! (I wonder how complex it is to add inductive recharge coil to the xiao seeed esp32s3 ... ugh .. not now jesse)
