Anime Ghoul

Hullo! I’m Anna Megill, a veteran video game writer & author. I write big, fancy AAA games like Fable, Control, Dishonored: DOTO, & Avatar: FoP. I’m currently the Lead Writer on Cyberpunk 2 for CD PROJEKT RED. I live in Boston with my shy baby kitty Mirri & run The Discord for Interactive Narrative

Letting myself have a little hope today, as a treat

something beautiful can happen

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

This thread comes to a close... ... as we now have a final result. Let the records show that, with 92% of the vote countywide, Lula is up 3.3%. (Can he end up doubling his 2022 margin?)

Biting my nails to nubs over the Brazilian election. I don't how I'm gonna survive the US election stress

I was like "Oh insomnia! I can identify"but then nope. Nope nope nooope.

Cyberpunk's timeline — from video game to anime 🎮

It's time! Settling in for my first full watch of Edgerunners 2. How long before it rips my heart out? 2 episodes? 3? youtu.be/urV5GzXcXsQ?...

If you live in Boston (or if you just want to support a historic theater and music space), I have good news: you can help save the Somerville Theater

Autumn in a New England mill town is the best

Let me share some positive news for a change: Despite all the gloomy headlines today, my understanding is that there are multiple paths actively being explored that would save Arkane Lyon. Anything can happen during negotiations, but at this point I'd be surprised if the studio is shut down.

Good morning! We're suing Meta for stealing our shit 😎 let's goooo

I would not be a game dev if the studio and its wild band of weirdos hadn’t taken a chance on me. But I’m especially gutted as a fan first. Generations of players found kinship and personal meaning in the games BioWare made, and the medium is better for what BioWare meant.

i think the games industry should have studios that exist

I loved the work I did at BioWare. I love the characters I wrote & collaborated on, the people I worked with. I learned so much from so many smart, talented, kind folx & all of that made me a better writer & person. Big, complicated feelings today but also, sadness. Much love, folx. I remember.

#BioWare's games made me want to join the industry -- their worlds, characters, stories, and wonders. When I worked there, I met people of extraordinary talent, vision, and humour who taught me so much about writing and game storytelling. I will always be proud to have been part of that studio.

For so much of my career as a game writer, Bioware stood as the pinnacle of our craft. It's been a long, slow decline, and I knew their last project was troubled, but this still feels like the end of a golden era

// NEW UPDATE INCOMING… [v.2.5][22.10.26]

Another day where somebody sends me what they think is a cool video game research project, and it is actually a wall of impenetrable AI nonsense that looks authoritative but is totally unusable I think we need a word for something that appears to be intelligent but is basically gibberish

This was my experience living in the Nordics. I made far less in gross salary than in the US, but I had more disposable income and better quality of life

Since NaNoWriMo blew up a few years back, the Discord for Interactive Narrative has held its own event: DINowrimo. It starts November 1st, and I'm looking for prize donors! If you're interested, please let me know ⚡️

Holy smokes, a killer pair of ‘Best of Double Fine’ Humble Bundles is here! Pay at least $5 for 7 games, or $8 for 11 games?! That’s almost TOO good to be true. 🧐 But it’s 100% true, and it’s happening right now:

i wrote this a couple months ago and its kinda wild how fast this sort of AI ripoff stuff is accelerating
