For those of you who just came here from my mastodon/mathstodon on the promise of ephemeral stuff such as food and pants: I just had breakfast (cereal, yogurt, and a banana, all mixed together, and a cup of tea) and I’m wearing a skirt.

I tend to avoid subscriptions. I don't have TV or music subs (unless you count TheFuMP and musician patreons), or many software/services subs. But those domain names I've had for decades, for the websites I rarely update? Well of *course* I keep paying for them. You can't just *drop* a domain name!

One weird thing about the buses in Seattle is that there are no buttons to open the doors either from the inside or the outside, so people have to yell at the driver to open the doors if someone doesn’t manage to get in or out while they’re open.

I’m finally reading a memoir that I bought from the author at the Geneva Writers Group many years ago, and I was briefly surprised when I got to the part where she moved to Geneva. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

So then I read a different memoir by a different author I met there, and this time I was mildly disappointed that it ends before she moved to Switzerland.

In case you’re wondering what to name your ferret, last night I dreamed the name Ferret Streep. It was a play on Feryl Streep. I only realised after I woke up that that could be spelled Feral Streep, which would also be a good name for an animal.

The zipper on my jeans is breaking, and I’ve just realised that since the jeans aren’t really worth donating, they are literally on their last legs.

It would be fun to put a grey and white checkerboard pattern in a frame and hang it on the wall, and tell graphics people it’s a window.

I keep forgetting to mention something I liked about the latest Apple keynote: They showed Siri dictation using the Oxford comma. 😀

Here to promote Mur Lafferty's "Lonesome October Club". Write a chapter of a novel each day in October, just like Zelazny did in "A Night in the Lonesome October". Maybe. To sign up, go to Mur's Patreon page (you don't have to be a patron of hers to participate): www.patreon.com/mightymur/po...

I upgraded to an iPad that has FaceID (instead of Touch ID) late last year and the only issue is FaceID needs the device to be farther away from my face than my eyes do. This is fine for a phone; I’m holding it with one hand so I just move it farther away for a second. But it’s a pain with an iPad.

Watching the ‘Context is King’ episode of Star Trek: Discovery with audio description because the regular audio track doesn’t work for some reason. It’s interesting to hear what gets described, and another weird way that accessibility helps everyone.

We’re binging Widow’s Bay and I was excited to notice K Callan in the credits! I don’t typically follow or recognise actors, but I was a big fan of Lois & Clark, so that’s a name I know well.

Even though mornings technically have nothing to do with lunar rovers, it’s somehow a useful mnemonic for me that the kanji for morning 朝 is a combination of the ones for car 車 and moon/month. 月

Yesterday I heard that the Apple Polishing Cloth is actually way better than just a microfibre cloth, and while its extensive compatible devices list does not include glasses, it's really great for cleaning them. So I just ordered one for $19 and Apple will give $10 to the National Park Foundation.

The problem with watching this many times to edit it is that I now have all the short clips of music in my head, including the ambient music where I don’t know any more than those few seconds. I’m growing to like the distant background music from when we were looking at the gorge.

I just finished reading one friend’s book series and then read a book by a different friend. Also, depending on the weather, sometimes I wear a hoodie with one friend’s art on it and sometimes I wear a thinner outer top with a different friend’s art on it. I have such cool friends!

I don’t know a whole lot about Dolly Parton but I know she was on an episode of The Orville, so if you didn’t know that and wish you could see more of her, that’s an option.

(They're donating $10 for any purchase from them using Apple Pay this month) I wouldn't advocate buying expensive things so that a corporation will donate a small amount to somewhere, when you could just donate directly, but I was thinking of getting one anyway and that's a pretty nice ratio.

I woke up from a dream about a cool etymological dictionary to realise that etymonline is called that because of the word ‘etymon’.

I've had 'use trackpad for dragging' turned on on my Mac since before it was hidden under Accessibility, but I've never needed Drag Lock until recently. It used to let you lift your finger to quickly reposition it in the middle of a drag, without Drag Lock. Now it doesn't. When did that change?

For ages I just thought I was not always being quick enough when I lifted my finger. I started actually using the clicker to drag just to be safe. Having Drag Lock on is annoying though; weird things happen until I remember that I need to tap again to stop dragging. I think I'll file a Radar.
