“I’m rubber. The best rubber, frankly. Big strong guys come up to me, tears in their eyes, ‘Sir, how are you so rubber?’ It’s a gift. And you’re glue. Cheap glue. Doesn’t even stick, it’s a disaster. Nasty stuff, believe me, it bounces off of me. Then it sticks to you. Like glue. Which you are.

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

I know that I'm not being helpful, but who on earth thinks this kind of messaging will actually raise them dollars? *IS* this kind of messaging effective and I'm just wayyy off?

I clearly don't understand modern comics, because when I ordered issue 1 @charliejaneanders.com's new comic "Star Trek Zero Point" and they asked me if I wanted the limited edition covers, too, I said sure, thinking there would be 1, maybe 2 of them. Nope, there are EIGHT. Is this a normal thing?

This is extremely acutely accurate to my life and struggles this past week. Fantastic quality thread 👇

This is shocking Meta had absolutely no history whatsoever of doing anything even remotely like this

Thank you for inviting me on, Tiffany! I had a lot of fun nerding out about writing and designing software with you, even if pencils and Stephen Sondheim were barely mentioned!

UX/Content Design is a new-ish field, but @andy.wtf has already written the book (literally) on best practices. Check out this week's episode of Interesting Jobs the Podcast where we chat what exactly a content designer does, how Andy got into the field, and more. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/d...

This was such a good discussion. Thank you for hanging out with me and @johnnygamber.bsky.social, @gbullard.bsky.social!

Episode 243 is up! 📻 erasable.us/243 This is a fun episode. We talk to @gbullard.bsky.social about his new book "Against Convenience". It's not a nostalgic treatise on why we should use analog tools. It actually goes deep on the modern conveniences in our lives and what we give up when using them.

Anyone else in San Francisco getting absolutely BOMBARDED by calls from political research firms wanting to know my “thoughts” on the upcoming election? I’m getting like 2-3 an hour lately. It’s just nuts this year

look, I like a little gadget as much as the next guy — maybe even more — but I have AI on my phone, AI on my watch, AI on my laptop, AI on my TV, AI on my smart speaker, AI on my car… like seriously when am I not near one of those AIs and I need _another_ one?

Literally who is asking for this

Wished a friend happy bi visibility day, and autocorrect changed "bi" to "birthday" without me noticing. MY AUTOCORRECT IS LITERALLY DOING BI ERASURE

A Valediction: Forbidding Horning

Josh Gondelman@joshgondelman.bsky.social

Carly Rae Jepsen is great in part because her songs are horny in ways that most musicians can't capture all of. Cheerfully horny. Wistfully horny. Hornnui. She has the horny range.

PEOPLE WITH LIBERAL ARTS DEGREES: so while i see there is utility to the system, i’m more or less morally opposed to their current constructs and have big concerns over the business structure and environmental impact WEB CODER: so i met God today,

It's hard to overstate how important Star Trek was to my life, both in terms of developing a creative habit as a child, and shaping my values and worldview.

While y'all are watching the Nathan Fielder documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, I'll be out here waiting for the documentary about the Amish handyman who moves to San Francisco and uses Claude to write his flyers and accepts crypto as payment

(Yes I know this is a parody and I'm not super comfortable with Amish people being the butt of this joke but I'll admit it did get me for a second)

Something I didn't know until reading Discourse about Dolly (Was I too young? not paying attention? both?) is that she was the butt of a lot of jokes. I knew she joked about herself — like her tiny feet, forever shaded by her ample bosom — but not that it was to get out ahead of the disparagement.

Which makes it all the more incredible that she's now maybe the one American figure who's respected across the political and cultural divide. What an amazing human, and what a tremendous loss

If you want to know what “unc” means, I present to you Mayor Daniel Lurie try to explain Pokemon to San Franciscans — or perhaps San Francisco to Pokemon fans

In two different languages, even!

Watching Prime Minister Carney discussing the breakdown of the Canada-US trade deal at a press conference and just really appreciating living in a country where the leader can speak coherently and knowledgeably about what is actually happening.

This is such a delightful book and would be a perfect beach or weekend read.

Anyone here using Wispr Flow? How are you mapping your activation key? I have mine mapped to the 🌐/fn key by default, but that's also the emoji picker key, and I want that back. Is there another key on your Mac that would be better?
