The latest issue of Replit Builders newsletter went out yesterday 📬 Covers: Their acquisition of OpenInt + Stripe integration made easy, migrating from Vercel to Replit, Amjad talks Replit history, another live session incoming and a look at which apps companies are paying for (hint: Replit).

Just cancel all your meetings and don’t add them back, ever 😁

Dare Obasanjo@carnage4life.bsky.social

A good practice at the start of every year is to cancel all your recurring meetings and then only add them back as necessary. This helps with cleaning up meetings from your calendar that have continued out of inertia which at this point could just be a status email.

The good thing about AI coding tools is that this mantra just isn’t that important anymore. When an MVP can be built in less than 1 hour it’s now totally fine to just test whatever idea pops into your head 😁

Friendly reminder to all my builders out here: ❝Build something that somebody wants❞ If you haven't spoken to 20 potential users this week and gathered their needs, your product is doomed to fail. Find the problem, and solve it. It's the only way. #buildinpublic #indiehackers

If you want a blow-by-blow account of using @Replit for a SUPER fun interactive video art 🖼️ project, check this out… I present: Voronoi Cam. voronoi.replit.app See the world through voronoi tiles! Watch it pulses in time with sounds around you… It cost me $9.25 (of $50 autorefresh credits) 🧵

Day 3 in Italy - I wanted to find some local bands to listen to. So I built an app with #Replit. It cost $1.65 and took 45mins. Push a button… the app finds the nearest town/city… lists some bands… plays me a YouTube video 🎧 #buildinpublic

Next, integrate with Perplexity to pull a list of local bands. Replit Agent got a bit stuck here parsing the band data from the Perplexity JSON response - lost $0.45 to fixing that. (I had it display the JSON on page so I could screenshot that back to Agent)

People feared the computer glitch would mean "the end of the world as we know it." Thankfully, Y2K didn't live up to the hype after years and billions of dollars were spent on painstaking preparation.

Today I used Replit to build a programmatic SEO site for fun. It took about 15mins and cost $0.80. Compare fruits and their nutritional values. Here are the steps 👇 #buildinpublic

Didn’t even know I would do a pSEO site at first… just asked Replit to build something fun with the API and let it parse the content of the API docs. First, it made some ‘random fruit’ checker with a comparison tool on the side. I asked it to zero in on comparison.

Just published the second Replit Builders Community newsletter. 👉 replit-builders.beehiiv.com/p/replit-age... We're close to 200 members. More Replit staffers in there now triaging bugs and feedback, and more interesting projects getting posted. Come of over! #buildinpublic

I think it works now 😁 Claude didn’t fix it. o1-mini didn’t either. Then I found some code on GitHub. Then it was a new bug. Duplicate links everywhere! A few more loops with Replit, was about to give up. Asked it why it was so hard to fix… then next round it worked 😅

Spent a good 2 hours today. Got obsessed with fixing it tbh. Fun though. Will save me about 15-30mins a month. So that’s ok ROI. With Replit’s new pay-per-checkpoint pricing I reckon it would have cost $10-15. Still worth it.

Oh crap - it's not working on <a> links. Replit is in a loop and can't fix it. I even asked Claude for some suggestions, gave them back to Replit and still nothing 🙃 Anyone know what's up?

I want to create a community for people building stuff with Replit Agent. Just somewhere where we can share what we’re working on, get ideas and help. Who’s in when I set it up? Agent is going to be the next big thing, I’m sure of it. And I want to be around people using it. #buildinpublic

Would love some help in testing the new search of starter packs I've been building (like a crazed mad man). Just visit this super secret URL and search: blueskydirectory.com/starter-pack... Let me know if it's slower/faster and you get better results. #buildinpublic

It annoys my wife when I point this out 😅 It's so obvious. That and empty suitcases getting loaded into the back of cars...

The Washington Post reports that Michael Anton and Sebastian Gorka had a falling out over who should receive credit for writing Trump's speeches. This is incorrect. In this thread, I will tell you the real reason why Anton dislikes Gorka. 🧵

This is exactly why people can make so much money in that industry…

i’m increasingly convinced literally no one knows what they’re talking about with SEO. guesses and hypotheses? sure. but actual factual knowledge? absolutely no one.

My thing on Bluesky this week has been following the "Newskies" feed and trying to be the first reply to interesting people's first posts. Probably makes them more likely to stay on here a bit.

ATLinkBuilder seems to be coming around nicely. It’s just a simple protocol to let you grab links and prepare the links for preview link cards for Bluesky. #Swiftlang #BuildInPublic

best use of AI yet? UK mobile operator O2 has created a human-like AI “Granny” to answer calls in real time from fraudsters, wasting as much of their time as possible 😅 news.virginmediao2.co.uk/o2-unveils-d...

I made a (failed) prediction last year… but I still think OpenAI should just buy Zapier and pump it full of AI superpower. Easier than trying to nail it from scratch.
