Anything, contracting, freelance, if you know any leads or if anyone is looking to hire. Shares appreciated.
Shit shit shit.
Difficult realization that we're financially at our limit. I need work yesterday to support my wife and I. At this point, anything goes. Full time, part time, you pay and I code for you.

Currently in Portugal and just experienced the biggest thunderstorm in my life. Sky was flashing non-stop for 30 minutes. Felt like I was in a videogame.

Hard at work on studio rebranding. While there are still things to finalize, I'm really happy with the progress! I'm aiming to have everything ready before the end of the year. I'll likely post a write up on @norrwyn.com on lessons learned!
In the mean time, here's our (extremely cute) logo
Literally learned about Little Rocket Lab this morning, played the demo for a little over an hour before work, and I can safely say: This game is super cute and people are going to love it.
Just got home from Nexus Games Conference. Couldn't stay for the post conference drinks, but I really enjoyed the talks and meeting the always super friendly people. Highly recommend catching the next edition if you didn't this year!
excellent tutorial on ALL Godot 2D Nodes under 9 minutes. Found it while searching a video to send to someone starting Godot and ended up learning a ton myself too. www.youtube.com/watc...#gamedev#godot
Had the opportunity to playtest and give feedback for Trainatic by @ryanforrester.bsky.social, and I had an absolute blast! There's something about incremental games that scratches an itch, and pairing that with trains made this a great fit for me! You should definitely wishlist it :)

Godot 4.5 will have localization previews in editor! I've been trying out localization and was missing this feature, so I'm glad it's getting added very soon

Beautiful read, summarizing perfectly some of the hardest challenges with freelancing.
"And we buckle down again—what other choice do we have? We conjure more hours. We work harder. And our work is still enjoyable. But sometimes we ask ourselves is it worth it? Are we earning what we’re worth?"
I've been doing a lot of deep thinking just lately about illness, work, fees and fairness, and today I'm publishing an essay about freelancing which I hope is a thought-provoking read.

I'm on a mission to find indie game developers using OpenStreetMap!
We want to feature their work at @osmus.bsky.social. How can I connect with this community?
Shutting down an unresponsive computer by holding down the power button always feels like pressing a pillow down on a person's face while saying "go to sleep"
Continuing to make leather pieces, and today I made a wallet! Absolutely love how the piece turned out, but I think I'm also super happy with the way the pictures turned out. I used to use a gray background, but the blue really makes the leather pop!
Correct. If the birthdate field contains corrupt or mismatched data, it defaults to 1875-05-20, which serves as a flag. May 20, 1875, is the day the international standards and metrics treaty was signed. Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.
So, I'm really in need of work right now, things are though here.
I do programming and game design, mostly with Unreal and C++, but can adapt if necessary.

I didn't know about this, but apparently sellers need to set it up on their page:
"
To set up Share & Save:
- From Shop Manager, go to Marketing.
- Select Share & Save.
- Select Join now.
"
Fun fact: if you're buying from a creator on etsy, you can reduce their etsy selling fees from 6.5% to 2.5% by ordering via 'shopname.etsy.com' instead of 'etsy.com/shopname' or searching from the main site. It costs you the same but the creator makes more
Still looking for more personal blogs to follow! With social media taking a nose dive, I'd prefer to follow people's own kingdoms, instead of ones built by billionaires.
Hi #Portfolioday! I'm Abbie, a Junior Environment Artist looking for my first role in the games industry! I'm nearly done with a new piece, so I thought I'd drop a sneak peak here alongside my other pieces for the occasion! 👀

Our tower defense game Rift Riff needs testing. Right now, a screen recording of the game + your voice (no face necessary) is the only feedback useful to us. If you're open to do that, sign up here: forms.gle/obJArPwAbYwT...#gamedev#indiegame#godot#godotengine
The world commutes to be rough for creatives so please just start supporting others in your creative industry and fields and boost them. If we can’t support our peers and colleagues then who will? Just use them buttons under a post it’s all it takes and can mean a lot to those struggling right now.
First spoke to Peter two years ago (time flies!) looking for some input on how I could transition into the games industry. Peter was always super nice to talk to, and super knowledgeable!
His blog has tutorials & showcases about the dark arts of VFX, 3D art and Shaders. A recommended read for sure!
You might have seen mine, but in case not: petedimitrovart.com
It has RSS, but I can't remember the link to it, lmao.

based on people liking my post about genAI being bad, it seems there's lots of AI hating on bsky, which is great!
but maybe someone has told you that you only think this way because you don't understand the tech, and that's bad, because by understanding genAI you can actually hate it much better 🧵
This thread illustrates what LLM's are (a spellchecker just predicting what the next word you'll use is), and how it's just being turned from a potentially useful tool, into something bad and nefarious.
What if LLM's were used to automatically generate a draft for alt text? Or to make your phone spellchecker better? All this while being trained using ethical sources, not by stealing content.
It would become a useful tool, which I could potentially embrace, as opposed to the abusive one its become
I pinned the "Followers" feed a few days ago and I'm enjoying it. I only follow as many people as I can actually read all the posts, but it's nice when I've got a bit of extra time to find more posts and more people to follow through that feed. Unfortunately, I don't know how to link it.
Cleaned and cable managed the office today, so I thought I'd participate in the #DevDesk challenge!
We're renovating the entire house, so I don't have any art or anything like that yet. Hoping to change that soon! :)
#DevDesk Challenge, lol
The big honkin' Cintiq is actually new as of this weekend, snagged for a song from an office liquidation (lest people mistakenly think we're rich). "Perk" of living in LA through a high industry-turnover nightmare.
If you see this, quote with your first ever anime.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
And what a great one to start with. It was completely absurdly over the top, yet it was the perfect introduction to the world of anime. Now I want to rewatch it...
