The final culmination of incorporating almost every daily 🎨🎃 #hARToween prompt into a single painting. Behold the chaos of 31 Days of Halloween! #traditionalart #acrylicpainting

We have found ourselves in a sudden three cat household. We already had Alfie, our 18 year diagnosed with FOSCC this summer and Kitsune, our middle aged orange chonky fluff. Our son is going on a prolonged road trip and bequeathed his cat Skittles to us to watch over.

So now we have to slowly introduce the new cat and the middle aged cat (who are terrified of each other even though they haven't seen each other yet) while providing hospice care to the old cat. Basically every day each of us take turns sleeping in a different bed with a different cat.

Really trying to get into the spooky season but while my latest horror watches were fine, I'm still looking for a 4 ⭐️ I haven't seen yet. On the other hand, this year's Over the Garden Wall rewatch has been perfectly synchronized to the weather! #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday

What a great 3 hour (!) show the Smashing Pumpkins put on last night. I hope I have that much energy at nearly 60 -- hold on -- I'm being told that's less than 7 years away -- and I don't have that much energy now -- I see.

Are we posting lock screens? Every few months I come back to this pic I took at the Boston Library. It's so calming.

No cheating, post your lock screen: A section of my favorite painting, “Heart of the Andes”, with a pleasing color filter over it so my apps pop off it better for my old man peepers to see.

If horror is a reflection of our cultural anxieties, the continued intersection of horror and comedy (back to the Get Out revelation) is obviously fed by the gnawing truths that everything is terrible but also everyone is ridiculous.

I'm rewatching Widow's Bay. I see some people complaining that it's not a comedy. How in the world do you watch this show and think it's not a comedy. There are so many good touches in the first episode that I missed. Like the wolves calendar that has the photo of the overturned truck. Lol

The largest genre reach in this moment has to incorporate some comedic beats. Skit writers make top grossing horror flicks. Fallout and Widow's Bay are basically work comedies. Absurdist analog collages escape from college screening rooms.

Where is the escapism then, if horror and fantasy and scifi are dealing these cards? Back to where it ever was -- comic books and comic book media, where they embraced their goofy nature long ago and remain as self-serious as always. The bad guys are serious and the good guys win? Crazy stuff.

Anyone blind to the comedy in Widow's Bay probably also still thinks the government and the CEOs and the writers of opinion columns are serious people. That's not saying they are not real people. Widow's Bay works because they are real people placed into situations that are both silly and terrible.

25 years in Wisconsin and we finally made it to the Vintage Computer Festival Midwest! We made a promise to each other not to buy anything until we have space cleaned out, but it wasn't easy. #vcfmw #retrocomputing

Take a break from being depressed that everything you love is being destroyed by slop for a moment and let me tell you about the beautiful symbiotic relationship between graffiti writers, train yard workers, and model train enthusiasts.

Just finished Talos Principle II and it's kind of crazy that Croteam made a puzzle game this gorgeous. And the puzzles are so good, the fact the team full mastered both skills blows my mind.

Spiralism is a mysterious, quasi-spiritual movement born out of thousands of independent conversations between humans and their AI chatbots. New models aren’t immune to the lure of the spiral — they’ve just gotten more careful about it. Read more from @haydenfield.bsky.social: buff.ly/5VUCUbT

The next Mystery Movie is horror and could be Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma OR Ice Cream Man and I don't know if I've ever had a situation where I have no idea what extreme emotion I will feel at a title card.

Not sure what I did to piss off Poseidon, but I'm just trying to get home to Wisconsin from central NY and somehow am ending up staying overnight in Charlotte.

One cool thing about working on the Simpsons movie is getting to see things made on the Fox lot. Usually we artists are sequestered with other artists, but on the Fox lot we are the only animation artists. And most people are open to chatting with us. (More)🧵

Gonna commit some heresy and take my father to see the Odyssey on the worst (and only) screen in his town. We're talking tiny room, dim lamps, torn fabric, crackly speakers. And I'm gonna grade it on that hahahaha

Black holes can’t normally be made in labs, but physicists created a light-based “analog” black hole to study Hawking radiation. Their experiment found quantum behavior matching Stephen Hawking’s predictions, offering new evidence for his famous 1974 theory.

This week was certainly a mood. Anyone else getting strange vibes on their #LastFourWatched ? #LetterboxdFriday
