Jeopardy contestant: what ToS language helps create more famous plumber brothers?
Well this is eleventy-million kinds of Fucked Up. @latimes.com (who once contracted with me as a freelance reviewer and whom I struggled to get paid by) asserts that *merely reading its website* constitutes a permanent waiver of your right to sue it under *any circumstances*.
indie entertainment landscape has grown exponentially, especially in the indie games, animations, broadcasting (both video and audio & their short-forms) and writings.
Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

learn the recognize the tactics of those who find science inconvenient to their schemes of making money or pushing their unhinged regressive beliefs.
Create a fake prize for academics; award it to some legitimate people alongside the frauds you want to promote, get them into a shared photo op. Just one way how Jay Bhattacharya`s reputation was washed and pushed by dark money donors.

got pulled into a call with someone talking about annuities by insurance companies. I honestly do not know what happens to those "investments" when the insurance company becomes insolvent due to climate disruption.

periodic reminder that fb is literally profiting off brainrotting your elders with ai slop and being the access point for bad actors to laser target their scams to match their interests & vulnerabilities.
Scams and illegal products I've seen and reported to Facebook include: * Fake train tickets * Bogus airport luggage auctions * Spyware advertised as a stalking tool * Cloned credit cards * Drugs Not a single one was removed
it also captures the MBA-brainrotted corporate culture not even going to your coworkers to collaborate and improve your skills, but instead steal ideas from them without credit in the spirit of cutthroat capitalism.
The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Whenever someone says that electricity is expensive because of decarbonisation, there are only two possibilities Either they are knowingly lying to you Or they are the victims of disinformation, and have been fooled by someone who was lying to them

b-rated movie about some megachurch stealing the shroud in order to harvest yeast to bake a human-shaped sourdough messiah but it turns out the shroud wasn't his but was used by a saint in 1200s to smother a demon impersonating Jesus and they accidentally resurrected that.

keep coming back to this thought. seriously it would kneecap so many bad actors and dilute power. for perspective, 100m is a single high-rise tower in a major city center or ~20-30 blocks of houses in a well-off suburb. it's still a fucking lot, but not global-damaging-level of dick wagging.
there's some two or three thousand families who own the majority of assets tucked away through dozens of tax loopholes inside corporate books & trusts. wealth taxing them down to a 100m-per-person cap that follows inflation would do untold wonders to the global political system.

The insurance crisis--a real, important crisis that if left unsolved could trigger a global financial collapse--is itself a sort of comfort blanket we focus on to avoid addressing the real crisis. www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/insurance-...

NEW: Governments are abusing online ads to infect people's devices with zero-click spyware, per Citizen Lab. Al Jazeera had 45 devices hacked this way, simply by visiting a website that displayed a malicious ad. Researchers say it's the tip of the iceberg. Ad-block bypass: archive.is/Smm3d
