Anyone know I f you can operate the full phone from the outside display? If so I’m excited to soon have a nearly new smallish phone with a vestigial/broken foldable display and a supposedly killer battery life.

iPhone Duo screens are cracking/breaking at the same point in a pretty obvious flaw. Interested to see where this goes www.tomsguide.com/phones/iphon...

The argument that autonomous vehicles are safer than human drivers is completely null when even the company says it won’t follow the law.

Wedge LIVE!™@wedge.live

I asked the Waymo rep whether they allow their cars to park in bike lanes. She said they do, depending on city regulations. Would they comply if the city prohibits parking in bike lanes? She said she would have to get back to me on that. LAWLESS!

Billions of tax dollars to lock people up instead of letting them work and pay taxes.

Back in July, I analyzed the immigrant detention data to find that over 600,000 people have been booked into detention since the start of the Trump administration. By the end of the admin, this could reach 1.75M people. The scale is appalling. austinkocher.substack.com/p/over-60000...

I’m not an expert in everything, but I have gear recs, can talk about winter riding, maintenance, (amateur) racing, city riding, etc.

Also we all decided that if there’s one non-negotiable for winter riding, it’s lights! It’s dark so much you need to be seen whether it’s road or trail.

Tonight!

Winter will be here before you want it. Get you and your bike ready for cold weather season before it hits. BGN will teach you about layering, winter maintenance, assessing road conditions, making bail-out plans, and when it's unsafe. 📍 Beermiscuous, 2812 N Lincoln ⏰ Wed 10/21 6pm

Be warned if I see you in the next couple of weeks I’m probably going to yell at you about the ferry.

Yes! 🙌

Alderman La Spata@aldermanlaspata.bsky.social

Yes! We're currently working on an ordinance creating a dedicated revenue fund for speed camera (automated speed enforcement or ASE) revenue to be able to use that money for infrastructure improvements.

I’d love an estimate of the annual costs of wildlife collisions including emergency response, cleanup, injuries, lost time, etc. and how long it will take to pay back the cost of construction.

When considering using starlink to connect a wind farm, my first thought was “what if musk owns a competitor and wants to drive up prices? I don’t know if others took that possibility seriously, but obviously they should.

If you deconstruct stories like the Salt Lake City florist petition, here's how it goes: On one side you have riders who want to get to their destination safely. On the other side you have drivers who feel their convenience should take priority. And it's so normalized that they don't even see it!

When you’ve been to as many ghost bike vigils as I have it makes a lot of sense.

How-Sen Chong@how-sen.com

People who’ve never biked before might not understand this. Frankly, I barely do But I think the reason behind the passion here is this: Bike Lanes Save Lives is not a just a slogan. It’s an actual, documented fact. So eliminating these bike lanes is literally eliminating peoples’ safety.

If we have to have lime in the city, let’s drop the scooters in favor of these. Way less likely to go OTB and they have a nice cargo basket!

The War on Cars@thewaroncars.bsky.social

They’re both carrying the same number of people - and probably the same amount of cargo.

Any posts trying to use kalshi/polymarket odds like polling data are trying to manipulate you!

Lots of larger plants plan maintenance, upgrades, etc. in “shoulder season” when weather tends to be favorable and heat/ac demand is lower.

Grid Status@gridstatus.io

On Tuesday, PJM's system could face one of its highest stress moments of the year, as system-wide capacity saturation is forecast to exceed 170 GW Forecast demand is well below summer highs, but demand alone is not enough to assess overall risk amidst ~60 GW of shoulder season outages 🔌💡

My tail light explicitly has a “group ride mode”. It’s great.

Never has 3.74 miles destroyed me so thoroughly. Amazing venue and good course. Shout out to Patrick and crew!

The Instagram therapists have been reading me for filth lately. Where do you get off telling me that running toward an achievement and running away from the shame of failure aren’t the same thing?

This is negligence and you’ve been lucky and/or spared by more competent and conscientious road users around you. The rest of us have to behave extra cautiously because of your recklessness. Some day, you’ll meet your equal in negligence and I hope this post surfaces at your trial.

Anfield77@anfield77.bsky.social

I have driven a car for over 40 years, probably 600K plus miles, without causing an accident. Every single time I drive, I speed. Not because I’m reckless or dangerous, but because the posted speed limit has no relation to the road’s true safe speed. Make the limit reasonable and I won’t speed.

Join me to learn about biking in cooler and cold weather!

I hope (though it seems unlikely) that the city will maintain this as an unpaved trail. We have vanishingly few safe places to ride that aren’t paved and this segment is a special treat. I left my comment already but truly I will be so sad if they pave this.

Hats off to Chicago's secret Department of Malevolence that is responsible for working with the city's other departments to ensure a constant stream of very silly decisions that keep the residents from ever expecting competence, e.g., repainting the LFT markings in the fall rather than spring.

No thank you?????

lumberjack wharfie@lumberjackwharfie.bsky.social

hey @leniann.bsky.social @the48thward.bsky.social — why did this sign get installed here? this is where a multi-use park path where bikes are allowed (and asked to yield to peds) merges with a multi-use park path where bikes are literally painted on the pavement. what is the expected behavior here??

Some #chilft updates: new striping still going in on the south side continues to make no damn sense; concrete replaced near Queen's Landing; asphalt patches between the flyover and Oak Street with really messy barricades.
