Marketing, writing, dog person, rosé is underrated. Midwestern. Fashion, politics, history, psychology, putting sand in the gears of patriarchy, etc.

Apropos… a piece I wrote with a similar theme. www.indianapolismonthly.com/news-and-opi...

indianapolismonthly.comA Grief Revisited - Indianapolis MonthlyIn 2013, my husband and I suddenly lost our healthy daughter to a COVID-like virus. Don't think the same can't happen to you.
Mary Brandt, MD, MDiv@drmlb.bsky.social

I've seen a child with tetanus, I've treated near fatal infections after chicken pox, and I've pronounced children dead from COVID whose parents refused to have them vaccinated. We have lost our minds... and are about to lose so many of our precious children.

I don’t know how we combat the knee jerk distrust and hatred some (mostly older) folks have for anyone with a (D) next to their name. They’re at a point they’re aware how much they’re losing because of *him* and would STILL vote for him over any (D).

I like this idea. If someone could organize people with paid PTO to schedule a rolling rotation of days off for months, there would be a productivity hit that corporations might feel.

The people who can afford to go on general strike need to. So many are paycheck to paycheck, they'll be homeless before change comes.

I think about this a lot. Americans have basically no social safety nets, at-will employment laws, health insurance tied to employment, and relatively low PTO. It’s never going to be European-style strikes here.

Try a general strike when you're disabled, without free Healthcare, and need 2 - 4 jobs to not be homeless and starve to death. See how well that combo works out before judging why those living in said conditions aren’t able to magically drop everything. It’s not giving up comforts.

Even before today’s news, a demoralizing part of a candidate like Platner is we know there are probably half dozen more suitable women candidates, yet we perpetually hold our noses and bend over backwards to make excuses for mediocre men. WHYYYYYY

This could be us, but non-white people might enjoy looking at them, so probably not.

The Danish gov’t has installed floating platforms planted with wildflowers and native vegetation in the harbors and canals of Copenhagen, to create urban habitat sanctuaries for birds, bees, pollinators, insects, and even some aquatic life. #FlowersOfBluesky #InnovativeSolutions💡

Mother’s Day thought experiment: What if Jesus had been depicted as a woman? Would western society be 40% less misogynistic? Or would Christianity be relegated to a niche religion because of it? Hmm.

Every day there's some new insanely stupid bullshit coming out of the Trump regime. This is a slow and painful national suicide because Americans are dumb as fuck. It was the easiest election in US history. OH WELLL!!!!

Yes, hello, is that God? Yeah, hi. I have a complaint. You gave me this brain that’s designed for finding berries and avoiding lions and now people are ‘just circling back’ to see if we can ‘move the needle’ on ‘key initiatives’? NONE of those things are berries.

Obviously KKKristi Noem is a POS, but I’d also like to see them just once not tie a woman to the stake like a goat for the velociraptors to eat. Can a man EVER take a shred of accountability?!

My dogs were intrigued to find what appeared to be a Canadian goose’s leg on our walk. I’m trying to figure out what could do that. Probably not a hawk or eagle, right? Must’ve been a coyote or maybe a fox? Seems like that would’ve been… noisy.

They think this was another smash ‘n grab, but don’t realize it’s a jenga tower. These idiots are going to get us all killed.

Trump on going to war with Iran: "I have never had more compliments on something I did. So if we have a high oil prices for a little while, but as soon as this ends these prices are gonna drop I believe even lower than before."

Those three planes would have covered my state’s Medicaid for like 5yrs

Within *three days* of this starting they killed hundreds of kids and saw several US casualties after which the president discussed the drapes he picked out and also had three $90 million planes shot down by friendly fire.
