“when did dems do austerity?” literally the FIRST thing Biden did in office was tell us he actually wasn’t going to send out the money he promised and campaigned on. it was the FIRST THING.

This is so stupid because the senate is different than it was 6 years ago. For example Kamala Harris isn't there anymore.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

So, Libs accusing us of being "single issue voters" was actually projection. Just like what republicans do. Their only issue is making sure the person with the R in front of their name loses. They dont care about any other issues. This is the sentiment that libs have been telling me all week.

What Kamala Harris proposes in not impeaching Trump is this the same reason why letting Jefferson Davis and the rest of the Confederate soldiers and leaders off the hook was a bad idea.. We've been paying for it ever since😡

We cannot get justice for bipoc, disabled or any other people by throwing trans people under the bus. None of us are free until all of us are free.

When we are fighting fascism "purity politics" is actually really important. We should not be voting for people who are going to side with fascists on any issue and especially not for people who will vote against the rights of vulnerable groups.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

This isn't even a little bit true. Part of the 2016 Clinton/Sanders race was the Democrats going to court and getting it declared that primary elections are entirely unnecessary and if Democrats wanted to they could just select the winner anyway they wanted. They could ensure the bigots lost.

Matt Calcara@mattcalcara.bsky.social

Who exactly decides who gets kicked out? There is no "Democratic Party" in the sense of a person or people being in charge. No one can wave a wand and be like: "You're expelled." People choose the party they want to associate with. The exception might be the party's Central Committee in each state.

People like this have no idea how elections work. When one is arguing to vote for the "lesser evil" they are discouraging voters of both sides because you are telling them that both are evil. It does not in any way attract voters because no one wants to vote for evil, whether it is greater or lesser

Why aren't all Democrats answering questions about trans people this way? Oh right, because they are transphobes.

BeshearStan@beshearstan.bsky.social

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

You have exactly one tool to "push" a candidate, and that is your vote. Once you give them that, you have endorsed their anti-trans position. You have no power to "push" them to change.

"Democrats aren't anti-trans, they just welcome anti-trans politicians in their big tent." The problem here is that I won't be in a party that welcomes bigotry.

Flantastic@scaniam67.bsky.social

The dccc's job is to get the dem that won their primary elected. They don't often, if at all have the choice of what that candidate does. They give the candidate money and resources. It is not democratic policy to fuck over trans people. Examples of bad actors isn't the same thing.

liberals just straight up campaign for bigots and then expect me to like them. fuck obama.

Obama on Trump's construction projects: "What's up with the gold? He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened up a Cheesecake Factory"

My feed has been full of videos of former Democratic presidents attacking Trump about stuff that doesn't matter. Stuff that won't make a bit of difference in the lives of anyone in the US. Democrats are telling you they are not going to do anything if they win this election.

The things Trump has done to the White House are among the least offensive things that Trump has done during his presidency. Democrats using this attack are telling you how little actually governing matters to them.

Bill Clinton: "I think Congress made a mistake not protesting turning the Rose Garden into what looks like the entrance to Liberace's bathroom"

Democrats could not be more clearly signaling that they have no intention to actually do anything useful. Attacking Trump for decorating like Saddam Hussein (?) instead of the Republican Party's obvious evils is really gross.

"in plain sight" gives the game away. you only hate the new camps because you have to see and think about them. those camps obama and biden stored kids in at the border were off somewhere you didn't care about and AOC wasn't getting dressed up to go do photo ops at them at the time

Alligator Alcatraz: not a pre-trump camp at the border Converted warehouses in New Jersey aren't either trump's rapidly expanding camps in plain sight and mandatory detention is filling them That's just one of the things about trump's second term policies that I'm "so mad" about

This is how we got both sides not supporting the working class. This is how we got neither side supporting abortion rights. This is how we got both sides supporting conservative border policy. This is how we are getting both sides being anti-trans. This is not how we make the world a better place.

"Online Rent-a-Sage" Bret Devereaux@bretdevereaux.bsky.social

It is, fundamentally, an exercise of choosing the lesser evil, over and over and over again, so that the total amount of evil in the system decreases over time. And you must keep doing it, because - since evil is easy - good is easily reversed.
