I have a note app on my phone I use to take notes and write things that come to mind. Looking through it I found this. I have no memory writing this and no idea what it means. I think I wrote it last year when I had woken up and went back to sleep after. I'm so confused, what does this mean???

I was reading the Wikipedia page on the habitability of Mars for fun. And I found "Terran" used in reference to Earth life. This made me very happy, I don't often see that in the wild outside of sci-fi. I personally love using Terran as a serious term and like seeing it more.

The whole #spacex #moon thing making people mad feels the same as spaceX fans who only like space for the vibes. I don't like Elon or SpaceX either, but rockets have been crashing into the moon since the Soviet Union first did it. It really isn't a problem nor does it harm the moon.

I want to get a good optical telescope again at some point. I miss having one. Currently I just have a radio telescope, which as cool as it is, I can't just take it somewhere and observe the planets. It's big and only detects neutral hydrogen.

Paths not Penned is now live on Steam! (Didn't need to push back the release this time) Already working on the next update for it, I'm oddly more nervous of this one then I was for Flank Speed. store.steampowered.com/app/4863730/... #gamedev #indidev #videogames #steam

I do worry that the release build of Paths not Penned will be boring. It has a fair bit of stuff and map variety, but the game loop is a bit simple right now. I'm working on a large update post release that will add more stuff, so I hope people at least appreciate the foundation on release.

My next small game is coming soon on Steam. It's a simple fantasy roguelike where you explore a procedural dungeon for treasure as you fight harder and harder enemies in greater numbers until you die. Wishlist it if interested store.steampowered.com/app/4863730/... #gamedev #indidev #steam

It's not early access but it is pretty simple currently, I will continue to add things to it and improve what I can. It started as an experiment in making a parchment map style thing with sprites I drew myself. It's a fun little project.

Honestly, Fiver is such a good resource for game development. I make all my own assets and stuff, but scripting is still an area I need help on a lot. So I often pay coders to make monobehavours that I build upon. I can read and modify C# I just struggle with writing it from scratch.

I would legit be happier just doing asset creation and letting other people worry about the code entirely. I know it's just a hobby but it feels like cheating when I need a lot of help with the code. Other solo devs can...you know, actually code.

Thinking about the Viking landers and how they where more analog and as such could be put in a oven to heat sterilize. It might be advantageous to make landers that are simpler and more analog, leaving the complex processing to an orbiting mothership, allowing for easily sterilized probes.

The path of scientific discovery is akin to the creative process of art, which is never (meant to be) linear or straightforward.

"Science is not simply a sequence of tasks that can be optimized....The scientific system thrives on inefficiency: redundant efforts, failed attempts, and divergent paths. These are not costs to be eliminated but sources of discovery." Excellent essay! ⬇️ www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

My little dungeon crawler roguelike game is getting close to it's first version. It's functionally like Risk of Rain with a procedural dungeon so nothing special there. But I put a lot of work in the visual style which i'm kind of proud of. #gamedev #unity #indidev

Enjoy a few seconds of Zen of my school of Beckford's pencilfish. They are like little wet hummingbirds in the way they hover. *The smaller ones are threeline pencilfish (not as hummingbird-like but still cool).✏️🐟

Assuming I stop procrastinating on music creation, I could conceivably have the first build of my fantasy dungeon crawler game ready for publishing next month. I'm going to get some people to play test it first. It's a simple game but I don't want to rush it out like I did Flank Speed.

Film you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, DC, Marvel, Disney, Pixar, Spielberg, Cameron, Wachowskis, or Ghibli.

I might start selling wood cubesat frames on my shop. The frame is still experimental, but it's easily customizable, lightweight and cheaper then other cubesat frames. Can also work with balloons or as a test frame for a conventional build. #space #science #tech

My last custom model order was for a 7 foot tall minuteman I ICBM. I love seeing the finished models fully painted and with decals. Like the Dyna-Soar, I just made the model, the client printed and painted it.

This is so real, Before it's launch I thought I didn't care about Artemis. But turns out when spaceflight is devoid of SpaceX it's actually cool again and makes me feel that wonder I thought I lost. Also excited for China's moon missions, Spaceflight is so much better without tech bros.

GOES-19 and GOES-18 captured the prominent exhaust plume left behind by Artemis II when it launched from Florida today. Atmospheric winds dissipated the plume as sunset approached.

I was watching a video about CERN testing that antimatter containment unit by transporting 19 antiprotons. One of the comments I saw was just "who wants to brake check the antimatter truck" and I found that profoundly funny.
