A thought I ponder on every now and again as it relates to our formation in Jesus. It's a rough sketch, an outline of an idea. In quantum entanglement, two atoms are linked to one another across time and space. When one was observed in o… https://aaronjz.com/discipleship-is-like-quantum-entanglement

A beautiful paragraph opening one of the chapters from The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett:One of the strange things about living in the world is that it is only now and then one is quite sure one is going to live forever and ever and ever. Happy First Day of Fall! 🍂 The first song I listened to today that always reminds me of a cozy fall day: Jacob Collier's "Little Blue." A cozy poem read and shared by my friend Joe Chambers: "The Patience of Ordinary Things" by Pat Schneider. I'm going to buy a bag o… https://aaronjz.com/8eb05158

It saddens me to hear that Wendell Berry died yesterday. He was 92 years old. I have been moved and changed by his works of poetry, fiction, and essays. One of my favorite poems by him is "How to Be a Poet." I committed this poem to memory sometime last year, and it alw… https://aaronjz.com/70cd1df6

Beginning Liturgies of the Wild by Martin Shaw today. Just finished the introduction. Shaw says a full-grown, mature human being is someone whose soul has been shaped by both story and place. So this book he's written (and narrates) is meant to lead us toward the wisdom… https://aaronjz.com/a2e5e067

A Morning Prayer via my favorite devotional, "The Rhythm of Life": “Lord, be with us to guide us within us to strengthen us without us to protect us above us to raise us beneath us to uphold us before us to lead us behind us to guard us ever about us this day and evermore this day and evermore."

It is a bit sad to me to watch the ending of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Tonight will be his final show. Of all the current late show hosts, he’s the one I have found to be the classiest and wittiest. Watching David Letterman and Colbert together from last w... https://aaronjz.com/bbd0c36b

Love the connection of Bilbo's difficulty in letting go of the ring to our difficulty in letting go of our smartphones. As @malcolmguite.bsky.social says, we can "spread ourselves thin in a hundred virtual places." Bilbo's surrender is perhaps one of the greatest moments in the whole LOTR stories.

I think @joanwestenberg.com really hits the nail on the head about doomerism in this piece. I also love the challenge toward hopeful optimism that results in action. Really encouraging read today!

If you predict a catastrophe and you're wrong, nobody circles back to check. If you predict things will work out and they don't, that follows you around forever. That asymmetry alone explains what I call Competitive Pessimism. www.joanwestenberg.com/optimism-is...

@tyfromtheinternet.com I see on your site (great site, btw!) you've been listening to Daniel Pemberton's soundtrack. I've been playing that as well! He's a great composer/artist. Love what he did with the recent animated Spiderman movies, too!

More context on this #Artemis II image: * This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right * The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon: ☀️🌍🚀🌕

I'm about 90% done with Home by Marilynne Robinson. It's such a beautiful book. "Can a person ever change?" is the question underlying the whole narrative and I'm loving it. All the characters & conversations feel so real and honest. Grateful for this story. https://aaronjz.com/d31669ce

George MacDonald on inspiration. You can't control when it happens, but through silence and stillness you can practice being ready to meet it when it arrives.

Could relate a lot to this poem "Bags" (see full poem at link) by @brianbilston.bsky.social cleaning the garage yesterday. "you had bags of bags in your bags you kept more bags" Those grocery store bags are good for storing grocery store bags. Brian knows.
