#introduction take two. With the amazing explosion of bluesky going on right now, I need to write a real intro. Hello πŸ‘‹, I am a hard working student who loves to learn. I'm interested in #webdev, #programming, #linux, #opensource building my #homelab all to hopefully to stand out in my field

Finally got my #fedora linux computer all backed up. I've postponed it long enough. The tools used is #borg managed by #borgmatic backing up my system every day. Then #healthchecks.io makes sure the backups are working

Then, the backups go to a local hard drive and also to a offsite raspberry pi using @tailscale.com. I've been doing this method of backing up my #homelab server with borg over tailscale and it has been flawless. It's such good peace of mind to know it just works without me doing anything

They promised me that RCS would make texting with iphone users better, but now every time I send I MMS text, it sends my text back to me, SMS and MMS are now separate so when a iphone user without a new phone sends me a photo, it sends it in a new chat (just MMS) Plus.. 1/2

For some inexplicable reason duplicate RCS group chats keep getting created for no reason even though iphone users only see one group chat. My google messages app is just a bunch of the same group chat. The whole thing is a mess. 2/2

Love the new @zen-browser.app update! It looks so zen-y and I think I like that. Hopefully it will fix the random crashing that has been happening every day for the past few weeks. Either way, love that it's firefox so I can keep using my favorite extension addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo...

addons.mozilla.orgSimple Tab Groups – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US)Download Simple Tab Groups for Firefox. Create, modify, and quickly change tab groups

The amount of random decisions you find in default html. Like does anyone know why scrolling on a input box changes the value and how I can stop it?

This is so cool. Even if bluesky never takes off, just the little niche group of people building cool stuff on it is enough

By popular request, here's how to add Bluesky replies as your blog's comment section! This requires some technical know-how for now, but I'm hoping that we see some no-code solutions for this pop up soon, like Ghost or Wordpress plugins. emilyliu.me/blog/comments

@hankgreen.bsky.social You should do this to your account. @hankgreen.com looks much cleaner and verifies who you are. Same for you @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social @johngreenbooks.com looks much nicer

Are you a social media manager running an account for an organization or high-profile individual? Or do you own a website and want a simpler username? On Bluesky, you can verify your account by setting your website as your username. We just refreshed our how-to guide:

I try and avoid prescriptivism but in this case I have a humble request for everyone It’s Bluesky, not BlueSky

This is the main reason I don't like mastodon. The whole everyone on their own network makes sense, but in practice is really clunky. I like the idea of decentralized data much more.

dan@danabra.mov

"when bluesky gets decentralized, everyone will be on their server" no! you're confusing this with mastodon. on bluesky, the thing getting decentralized is where the data is stored. it does not fragment your user experience or change where you log in. atproto enables seamless decentralization

Hello, I'm a way to save bookmarks until we get a real bookmarking feature. Just DM me a post by tapping the three dots on the bottom right and selecting 'Send via direct message'. Type my handle (@bookmarkit.bsky.social) to find me and send me the post. You can practice on this post if you like πŸ”–

So, I switched to mastodon a bit ago cause the content on there was more relevant to what I'm interested (tech and stuff) but I see this place is exploding so just want to check it out

Oh and another difference from bluesky to mastodon is the lack of privacy controls. Like on mastodon for each post you can control who can find the post, for example you can set replies to be found by anyone or just people clicking on the post you are replying to

You are up to date.
