Not at all the point, but I can't help but be struck by the fact that Mayor Beame does not use the Oxford comma. hellgatenyc.com/mayor-abe-be...

I'm not volunteering this year because work conflicts with the extremely small number of shifts that are not already full*, but if you see something like this, call Election Protection at 866-OUR-VOTE to report it. *actually great that there were so many volunteers that this happened!

NYC's Mayor should keep his campaign promise to fund our libraries: half a percent of the overall city budget for libraries! I wrote a letter to the City Council saying libraries serve communities in ways other institutions don't. Hope you'll write one too: actionnetwork.org/letters/city...

They're holding up a major escalation in Iran and a crackdown on abortion until after the midterms to limit political damage. To the extent that the last two years have been a right-wing smash-and-grab operation, the next two will be worse.

Netanyahu directly attacks Zohran Mamdani (and his wife) from the UNGA podium, calling him the "antisemitic mayor of New York City," parroting The Free Press's stories about Rama Duwaji, tying Mamdani to Hasan Piker, and claiming the mayor is "buddies" with Hamas.

Fighting for libraries is fighting fascism. Fascists hate libraries. They hate freely shared access to knowledge. They hate community, and what they are doing to children in Arkansas is a step along the path to doing this nationwide to everyone. DON'T LET THEM. GET INVOLVED IN YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY.
Jesus Christ: after a recent ruling by the Eighth Circuit that allowed Act 372 to take effect, an Arkansas county has banned all children from checking out any books in the adult section, bringing home any DVDs, or using the self-checkout kiosk in its public libraries.
A good way to fight for libraries is to get on your local library board. You can learn about running here. www.librariesforthepeople.org/get-involved...

I've been experiencing bouts of body dysmorphia, and while I know it's largely due to my OCD, toxic online fitness engagement (aside from #FitnessSky, which is great) has been a trigger. I just published a piece about it: artfullyexercising.substack.com/p/the-proble...

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
