Just as I was looking for a solution for my own game! I see Godot support, so I gotta ask, is it a 1:1 C# port of the Unity plugin? If so, is it considered a first class port or will it receive updates a while after Unity? Just wanna make sure since a 1 to 1 YS for Godot is definitely worth 50$.

The Godot version is free. Functionality is _almost_ the same as the Unity one, and uses all the same terminology and even the same DLLs for a lot of it. The port is led by a community member of ours so it tends to be slightly behind but not meaningfully. Maybe slightly less docs/samples.

We don’t sell them as a bundle if that’s what you mean? But v3 is out now for Godot just like it is for Unity. It has v3 features and v3 docs. It tends to be a matter of days behind Unity, if that. And that’s mostly because we

Itch versions have been updated, GitHub tagged + released, Unity Asset Store version will update ... whenever they say so πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ But this is the culmination of like 2.5 years of work and 9.5 years of experience maintaining Yarn Spinner, and we're so bloody excited to share it with y'all !!!

We’ve actually been working on this for nearly 10 years now. Our first public version released on GitHub even before the first Yarn Spinner game it was made for (Night in the Woods) released. It just takes time to get the word out! πŸ˜†

Oh gosh, I think 5 years ago we were still rewriting our compiler to get out away from the complete fragility of 1.x πŸ˜† We’re lucky now we’ve really strengthened the internals and the modularised different components now we get to concentrate on the fun stuff! πŸŽ‰

It’s kind of an alternative to RenPy for a different tech stack. It’s a C#/.NET-based compiler which turns dialogue files written in Yarn into Yarn Programs which can then be read into any game engine that has a Yarn Importer - e.g. Unity, Godot, Unreal, Bevy (Rust), a few others.
