Alright, trying out @tangled.org I still don't really understand AT Proto, but looks like it's time to look seriously at getting off GH. An tips for a convert/newcomer?

I recommend just using a GH action to mirror your repos if you wanna migrate, e.g.: tangled.org/trueberryles... Worked pretty well for me... bsky.app/profile/true...

Finally found the time to get started with setting up @github.com to @tangled.org mirror / backup repositories. So here is my first repo on tangled: tangled.org/trueberryles... Thanks to this amazing gh action which makes this really a pleasure: github.com/marketplace/...

Wow! I posted this before taking my kids to swim class and came back to so much support. Thank you atproto community ❤️ One thing I didn't realize is tangled has great support for jujutsu, which I've been using for a few months now. Very cool!

Not really a tip for onboarding as such, but they’re really receptive to contributions and feedback, so a great chance to help form the platform as a whole through feedback, ideas and contributions.

Only thing you need to comprehend if you don't know too much about atproto is that it is public only by design. So there are no private repositories. That is something that might surprise people that are unaware.

Yup got it. How far does this go? Is this true even if you're self-hosting? Like could I use tangled inside of a company and host something privately/on a VPC?

it's probably technically possible but you'd need to replicate enough of the infrastructure to host a knot that subscribes to some kind of private jetstream to avoid broadcasting PDS data to the rest of the network

I like the open by default nature for my own work. But in health tech there are things we can't open source so easily, so would would be curious if there's any paved road there.
