For all their talk of "religious freedom", I notice that Wired article makes no mention of government departments catering to Muslim, Jewish, or Hindu employees.

Do they think shoving Christian Nationalism down our throats will bring people into the fold? I actively hate these people now and will do anything I can to make sure they never hold public office again.

They'll cite as *good* examples of "Christian nations" places where the state religion was mandatory, parents could be punished for passing along their own religious beliefs, and the religious schooling children got by force was then accepted by future generations. So, yes, they do think so.

From Matthew 6:5 - And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest...

...enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Yep. If doing something horrible made someone 'not a Christian', then why the stress on 'forgiveness'? If doing bad things meant excommunication from Christianity, the number of still-standing-Christians would drop like a stone. Because Christians aren't any more moral than anyone else.

TBH, Paul, I'm not sure it is irony because it feels like the oldest playbook on the shelf. Whenever anyone screams at the top of their lungs about how they're working for the Lord, we all know they're really working for themselves in a selfish and hateful way.

Either way there’s nothing very ‘christian’ about it. Imagine being scared to speak on the record in case of retaliation by the people sending out these ‘christian’ messages.

There certainly is not. And while I'm stunned, I'm not surprised (sorta my standard reaction to MAGA). To wit: You can always find the most evil people behind the most pious messaging (see: Spanish Inquisition). I've always known that. I just didn't think it would apply to the US gov.

Whenever you appeal to a speculative entity that is the "Almighty"/most powerful thing, abuse of power is ALWAYS going to happen. Convince people that this entity is behind you/supports you and your actions, and you're set! It's not like this entity will ever show up to contradict/correct you 😉

Separation of church and state means keep their goddamn religiosity out of government !!! I want to know who these people are and return the harassment. Like punch back twice as hard.

If these people actually were "God-fearing," Christians, to use the old term, they wouldn't be doing what they're doing. It's all fake.

If by "fake" you mean insincere, I concur. But the right way to understand what they're doing is as a kind of affinity-promoting signaling, where they are measuring your fealty to Dear Leader by your willingness to join in.

Fragile, whiney little Hegseth doubling down on anti-woman psuedo-Xian rhetoric because his mom knows he's a useless tool is a danger to us all. Also, "non-denominational" doesn't mean what they play like it means.
