Hubby always called them V.C. As a pun to refer to the VietCong which was vilified as the ultimate enemy to men his age group since they were subject to a draft to fight the VC. Ergo VC were villains.

The next CEO needs to: * Ban chronic platform abusers * Create an independent "Inspector General" department that reviews internal and community facing behavior. * Create an independent QA review process to control vibecoding fault propagation * Build anti-disinfo tools

Platform Abuse Prevention: Some actors inherently abuse platforms, as shown by their behavior history. Known bad actors, individuals who either actively abuse, promote abuse, or collect information for abusers (co-conspirators), should not be given space in the social network system.

Inspector General: All tech companies to date have been beset by SV cultural problems where they have no internal stop/correction mechanisms for senior members. An independent IG must exist to break the circular logic that often prevents company and user safety, function, and convergence.

QA Review: Vibecoding and subsequent errors, including safety/moderation errors, is a common issue. While some programmers may insist on using this under-developed tech, a better QA review process is necessary to prevent faults from reaching live users.

Mastodon still exists. Has features missing when the twitter exodus occurred. Still actually distributed. Entire instances can just be blocked if a bunch of a-holes are there.

I hope that doesn't change the formula. I like the positivity and that even if you disagree, you don't get attacked like you do on Twitter & FB. No troll, bot, hate posts or race attacks like you do on FB Twitter and Truthless Social

If they're worried about blueky being "profitable", the 1st thing they'll do is ban porn, which once again will cripple their engagement numbers & user base, to eliminate queer users who made bsky viable & be just like every other platform. Which is probably the goal, more than "profitability".

musk is probably shitting bricks in anger that trans people have anywhere safe-ish to go, and the people the nazis want to threaten don't want to go to twitter to be threatened by nazis. enter a venture capital fuckwit who wants musk's favor for blow it all up for him.

Graber joined Bluesky in 2019, when it was a research project within Twitter, and became the company’s first chief executive officer in 2021. She will now transition to become the company’s chief innovation officer, a more technology-focused role.

wired.comBluesky Is Plotting a Total Takeover of the Social InternetAll the lefties fled to Bluesky following Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. But CEO Jay Graber says the app is for everyone—and could revolutionize how people communicate online.

The Automattic connection is what worries me most, seeing how they handled Tumblr (the NSFW crackdowns started just before they bought it from Yahoo, but it’s not like the ship has gone anywhere other than further down the corporate approved nonsexuality route since then)

Reminder that Mastodon is a thing. And every organisation can set up their own instance for their staff. Much like their own websites. And there are hosting providers to host & manage it for you. If you don’t want to host. Like for websites. And there are many instances for individuals. #JoinUs 😊

All I meant by my comment is that the eventual ouster of Jay from CEO was inevitable bc of the money taken. This happens nearly 100% of the time in these sorts of funding deals. Might have even been baked into the contract for a set amount of time.

I find it puzzling how the blue sky moderation and higher ups completely, and oddly refused to embrace the crowd they had. Clearly their goals weren’t being met, so they just kept trying to…what… hope that if they were mean enough, it would attract the investors?
