Where did DOGE's recruits come from? Here's what we've discovered. In late 2024, a group of young software engineers fanned out across online chat groups and Discord servers. At least three were associated with Palantir or its cofounder—and Musk ally—Peter Thiel.

In online chat groups linked to Palantir alumni and SpaceX interns, as well as in a Discord associated with a military artificial intelligence program, the engineers said they were looking for people willing to spend six months in DC, working to cut federal spending by a third. wrd.cm/3EwbLLx

Since its establishment by executive order on the first day of Donald Trump’s presidency, DOGE has taken over key agencies at the center of the federal government. But its access to sensitive data and systems has placed DOGE at the center of a growing number of legal battles. wrd.cm/3EwbLLx

This came days after a US Treasury threat intelligence analysis designated DOGE members as an “insider threat.” An email detailing these concerns called their access to federal payments systems “the single greatest insider threat risk the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has ever faced.” wrd.cm/3CLw6vV

It is imperative you continue your reporting with this same fervor and intensity when (and not if) they come for your journalists and try to silence you. I will do my part to support this important endeavor.

It's notable that Musk did not hire auditors to root out fraud, he hired coders and hackers to reprogram systems to his own liking, behind closed doors without oversight and without Congressional approval.

I subscribed yesterday as a result of your breaking news for the last two weeks. You deserve subscriptions because of the hard journalism you're doing and consistently speaking truth. Keep it up!
