This is Mira. She's a Podenco Xarnego Valenciano. We're not even making that up. Very pretty and very rare. 14/10 would be an honor to pet (FB: Matilda Lindström)

What a spectacularly striking and beautiful dog! I’ve only seen the Canarian Podenco, and the related Portuguese Podengo, both wonderful dogs with fantastic characters and qualities, and roots dating back 1000s of years. The latter resembles a bigger dog with tiny legs, so cute and confident.

Podencos are super common in Spain (not exactly that type but mostly with short hair) and shelters are full of them because hunters breed them and then often discard them when/if they are not useful for hunting. So this posts is very very compatible with adoption!

I am having trouble pronouncing her breed, but she one absolutely gorgeous fur baby! And than you for teaching me something new today! I believe I need to learn something new every day or I have wasted that day! And learning about your wonderful doggy is much appreciated! Love is the answer! Enjoy!!

Mira is descended from one of the most ancient families of dogs - the Sighthound. Greyhounds are the most well known. Known for curvy, sleek bodies, pointy noses, and great speed.

gorgeous!!! if i ever got to pet her i wouldnt stop i’d wear off her floof petting her “This is Mira. She's a Podenco Xarnego Valenciano. We're not even making that up. Very pretty and very rare. 14/10 would be an honor to pet”

This is, in order : Flare, Wooper, and Gobou. While not that rare, axolotls have smaller numbers than other domesticated animals, with only 1 million of them domestically, and somewhere between 50 and 1000 in the wild. Their ability to regrow limbs is also rare in nature. Wooper is doing that atm

Oh, and, I just realised the way I worded the alt on the picture of wooper can lead to a missunderstanding : Wooper's PAW was eaten by the fish, not Wooper itself. The fish isn't big enaugh to fit an entire axolotl in its mouth, luckily.

Just precising that by this, I don't mean to put down your achievement of having a rare dog breed or whatever is rare about her. I know axolotls probably aren't as rare as that dog. I just meant to show my own, rarer than usual, pets.

It's really said that galgos and podenco aren't considered pets in the animal welfare rights in Spain. We've had several rescues over the years and it's dire out there for these dogs.

I adopted a few retired racers straight from US tracks in an era where they were treated extremely well, retired young w/ extra caution abt injury etc, and I got SO tired of correcting ppl’s seemingly outdated misconceptions until I learned all that shit still happens to galgos 😞

Now hear me out. Since she's also a redhead Valencian, I propose we swap her for cringey TV host Pablo Motos. We Valencians realise our mistake and are willing to take him back to factory and make amends with national television.
