The White House late Friday fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies in a purge that could clear the way for President Donald Trump to install loyalists in the crucial role of identifying fraud, waste and abuse in the government.

Will you spend the next 4 years pandering to Trump in your reporting? Let me help you, the dismissals don't "appear" to violate federal law, the dismissals "do" violate federal law Dismissals require 30 days' notice. When did violating federal law become flexible? Stop normalizing this BS!

It's best to break the law in the dark of night. All the Felon-in-Chief had to do was given Congress 30 days notice to make the change. It scares me to see the leader of the free world lurching from one crisis to another. Let chaos reign!

Please stop posting and delete your account. Your master Bezos is directly responsible for everything that's going on right now. These are dark days, and our democracy is holding on for dear life. And you are not helping.

It was an illegal firing. It's clear the only reason for that is to make way for fraud. There is no other reason. Be clear to your readers Washington Post.

I don't think a statistically significant number of people stayed home because the Washington post didn't endorse kamala but it's disturbing that four guys exert editorial control over 90% of our news consumption

He does this during the same week he happened to launch a big crypto grift operation for himself and his family. If Joe Biden had done this….

I love how WaPa and NYT have both stated “at least 12” while all other news agencies have given the correct total of 17. You can’t even be counted on to tell us the whole truth on something like this because you’ve got to make it smell at least a little bit rosy for your Pumpkin King. 🖕

I find it's better to sleep on big decisions but then last night I stayed up late and fired by dog for pooing in my shoes 2 years ago. Totally regretted it the next morning.

It took Hitler less than 2 months to destroy the German republic… Drumpf is trying to beat that record. Complacency is what makes it possible…he is acting as he promised, do be most angry at his enablers and bystanders who remain silent. He loses if we keep shining the light and speaking truth

Politics of Fear The Nazi regime promoted a fear-based worldview that Germany was under attack from both internal and external enemies. Fear was an essential element of Nazi propaganda used to rationalize many discriminatory and authoritarian policies of the regime.

The Dems have to go on every network, every podcast, social media and get the word out. They aren't doing it. This is why I am leaving the dem party. People don't know what is going on unless they speak out. Have to do it now or it will be too late. What the fuck are they afraid of?

I suspect many journalists that are still there are not happy. Bezos may just have wanted to destroy wapo. And then turn it into something like the ny post. Or fox news in print form. They will lose more journalists over the next few months as they find other jobs or are too nauseous to remain.

Why are these organizations using "could" in their headlines when he has shown us that's exactly the plan. I understand it hasn't happened, but it's clear unless someone blocks the way it WILL happen.

This makes sense. With the Supreme Court ruling the Nixon era “it’s not illegal if the president does it” doctrine is law the Inspectors General were just government waste. What is the point of corruption monitors when corruption is legal?

You report everything wrong. ‘Gave notices that they were fired but federal law says otherwise’ - he lacks the authority to do most of what he has done so far and the Bezos stenographers report it as fact.

1) The White on Friday fired 12 … [stated as fact] 2) federal law …requires Congress to receive 30 days’ notice of any intent to fire … [stated as fact] — But the dismissals *appeared* to violate the law? Violating the internal logic of the story in the first three grafs is not a good look.

all of the noise and media attention on deportation, unqualified/hideous appointments and otherTrump BS is a diversion to get us all to look away as he implements strategies to enrich himself and his cronies. He is going to fleece the American people, all businesses as no other has ever done.

So the the “greatest democracy in the world” is becoming like Russia with master oligarchs getting richer and the president controlling every single agency to avoid the checks and balances. Who would have thought..

I hope each one of the those fired independent inspectors join or start a podcast to continue to independently monitor their respective agencies. With a criminal as president and cowardly, complicit senators and congressmen, it is more important that ever that these folks be monitored.

WaPo wrote "appears to be illegal." Please. Please. Appears? I assume this is the kind of tip-toe-ing we can expect in the future from this publication that brought down Nixon. Katherine Graham never would have allowed this kind of text to appear in her newspaper.

My newspaper the Seattle times ran with the New York Times article which also did not mention this memorandum. I want follow up: those IGs are staying put right? Are they going to sue? Hopefully someone out there will keep us in the loop

1 in 3 Americans didn't show up to vote in one of the most important presidential elections ever. There is lots of blame to go around: the media, the politicians, supreme court, family, friends, job mates... you name it. America failed, big time! I'm in Canada and pissed at America.

And the way he did it, most importantly, was against the law. Let's see if the DNC actually does anything about this or just complains while being complicit
