not a huge fan of declarations of "LLMs are conscious" because that is basically the same as the "LLMs are not conscious" argument right now. i like having spicy takes and all but that one feels counter productive

almost all of the nearly 900 replies are people being the most buttmad i have ever seen on here

it’s a good bait post, and i definitely love bait posting, but it also unfortunately just makes it harder to have the neutral position without being assumed to be in the “llms are conscious” camp

depends on how you define bait, shibbi is a strong believer and has spent years trying to nail down a (somewhat) self-consistent philosophy, but she did explicitly say somewhere she said it out loud to make people angry because enough negative press will also make neutral people ask questions

Oh I get it, it's "bait" as a way to get out of criticism if people call her out.
