Flight of the Navigator is 40! 🥳 Trimaxion Drone Ship, art by Edward Eyth:

Flight of the Navigator was released 40 years ago today! "In 1978, a boy travels eight years into the future and has an adventure with an intelligent, wisecracking alien ship."

And since, for the past 5 years, I haven't been able to post about this movie without someone mentioning this video, I'm going to get it out of the way first. 😂 @captaindisillusion.bsky.social

haha @mime666.bsky.social I didn't see your post 🤣 Well, I'm sure this is a conspiracy. There isn't another movie where the same video appears as a comment on every one of my posts. (which is neat, btw)

Captain Disillusion's video rightly applauding the efforts of the VFX team is my YouTube equivalent of comfort food. youtu.be/tyixMpuGEL8?...

Your goal in life should be to create something that inspires someone else to do this kind of beautiful tribute 35 years later. If you release it this year, it will happen by 2061! if you wait a bit, Vulcans could even watch it.

40 years ago today a movie came out and then 5 years, 2 months and 12 days ago, I stood next to screen-used props from that movie and got all YouTube-video-essayist about it.

It makes you wonder why if PeeWee was such a good pilot in this why was he such a bad pilot in Star Tours?
