Gad: "This movie is really a love letter to [John Candy]. I am not playing Barf in this movie. I am playing a new mog in our movie. John is at the beating heart of this film and the reason why this movie has so much heart. I hope when you see it you will agree.”
"[Mel Brooks] was only required to read the lines in a recording booth, not dive around on set in a laser-sword battle while wearing gold makeup." Josh Gad: “Part of the idea was we didn't want to kill a 99-year-old man. We really felt that was important." Fair.
Rick Moranis: "After not doing it for as many years as I have, and therefore living as a civilian and really connecting with the audience as people … it's really moving to me to see them again."
