Buying a 3D Printer in 2026. Main options:
1. The expensive xenophobic one that sometimes lies
2. The cheap one that lies all the time
3. Spend countless hours researching and building a Voron
You wanna print stuff? Fuck it, bambu.
You want a project? Wanna learn how it all works? Wanna feel a sense of accomplishment for printing out a test model? Voron.
(I love my voron)
Have you built a 3d printer or anything like it before? If so, a good kit goes a long way - the ldo kit is the gold standard, but other kits are also good! I built my 2.4 relatively quickly, but I also have a lot of experience!
Otherwise, consider something like RatRig.
I have never built a 3D printer from scratch before. I have experience building other stuff but I'm sure the kit would be taking room on my workbench for a long time. Just being realistic 😄
this is the way.
I have a friend that built a large-format printer and the only structural parts he bought were the metal things. Bars/rails/rods/lead screws. Everything else was printed on his existing printer.
